Our trip to Torquay
This will be our first and last trip to stay in Torquay. The hotel was in bad need of a complete refurbishment. It was dated and old fashioned. At £139 we expected a higher standard.

Lots going for it!
The staff were excellent, food superb, which was fabulous and local. Good location, nice setting and great to have free car parking on site. The outdoor pool was welcome on a hot day, even though it isn't heated. The only drawback was the noise from the road which left me on a very warm night with the choice of leaving the windows open and being disturbed by the traffic, or closing the windows and an uncomfortably warm room. I realise the hotel has no control over the traffic but perhaps consider portable air conditioning units or a fan in the rooms facing the road? Otherwise, a good place to stay which I would consider again, but request a room facing the railway line instead.

Everything you need in one place nice coffee bar as well as a nice place to sit near the pool the views are really nice from the balcony too the rooms are comfy and the bathroom is a good size. I would say the hotel need an update but it's still a lovely place to stay.

2nd. stay in a year. It must be good.
Great location on sea front with easy access to all of Torquay / Paignton.
Everything clean and lots of free parking.
Nothing too much trouble for the staff, and good dining too with sea views from the restaurant.

Road traffic noise at night
The Hotel is well run and the rooms cleaned every day,The staff are all first class, The only problem we found was that if you wanted a sea view room the main busy road was right in front of the Hotel and was very noisy at night, If you wanted a room at the back you had the main train line. I would recommend the hotel installed secondary glazing and installed a lift. The swimming pool does not appear to be heated and was very cold indeed.

Corbyn Head In The Clouds
It seems that the cost of the stay without the LateRooms.com saving reflected something the hotel aspired too rather than was able to deliver. Even with the 1/3 discount it felt that the price was steep. The hotel itself was nice enough for a lower end price bracket. The room was small but clean with some furnishings in a state of disrepair. On the positive side staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel has a fine view of Torbay. Food was on the whole average - poor one day and good the next. At the right price this might have been a good experience but not given the hotels it aims to compete against for business.
