Lovely stay !!!
Quiet room, comfy bed, attentive staff, good food and plenty of it!!.
A quaint and dare we say old fashioned type of hotel, but entirely suitable for our short stay. Had dinner on our 1st night and the food was of a good quality and of a high standard. The restaurant staff were courteous and always ready to help or advise guests. Our only quibble was a leaking air con unit above our table (number 4) that dripped on my wife on the 1st night, so we were moved to another table which the staff did without any trouble. The next morning we were given the same table, and it dripped once or twice onto me, which was annoying. The 2nd morning the unit didn't leak or drip, so no problem on the Monday morning. Moving one or both of the chairs slightly might have been a temporary fix while the drip was repaired. Overall though a lovely couple of days, and we will definitely stay here again.
Staff very good building very dated and tired
We found staff very helpfull and friendly during our short stay....
But .. We were in room 30, on a very short landing with stairs right outside our door, floorboards were very loose and creaked every time anyone passed sounding as if they were about to walk in,the room above also had loose floorboards and seemingly only thin carpet, as every step they made echoed in our room, disturbing us until late into the night and again very early in the morning. We had a lovely comfortable bed but with all the noise only managed 5 hours sleep. The swimming pool was far below the standard one would expect, a single shower and cubicle in the changing rooms, all the lockers were either missing the keys or were broken, with no life guard on duty one would expect a watchfull eye from CCTV in reception to stop any unruly behaviour in the pool, but sadly despite signs banning jumping running diving and eating, all these activities were going on. To the dismay of all the other visitors. There was plenty of free parking, and it was a short pleasant walk to the seafront, across the railway line, and for us more adventurous types a good yomp to Dawlish town centre, about half an hour or so away. The outside pool was still covered and out of use depite stating that it would be open May to October. As we used this hotel as a last step on our tour of Cornwall and Devon, we found it to be the lowest standard yet the most expensive that we used. Very dissappointing, and left us tired for the 4 hour drive home.
Enjoyable break in a great location
Very nice hotel, but clearly caters for the older client group which is great if you want to feel young and are looking for a quieter option.
However, we did enjoy our stay very much....
Room was small and quite noisy due to the water systems of other rooms, and also being next to the stairs.
The internet connection was very poor in the room also. Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Food was good and varied . Staff were very helpful. Overall a nice break but keep away from room 30. Good for families.
Friendly weekend seaside stay
Very nice helpful staff in a very comfortable hotel.
Good value and really away from it all....perfect for families and in a lovely setting.
Excellent Hotel very frendly staff, only one concern being non smokers our room room stank of tobacco smoke.
The Langstone Cliff Hotel
Easy to park, quick, efficient check in, friendly staff go out of their way to please.
Quality bedding and towels changed daily and an excellent power shower with plentiful hot water. Lovely for our 9 year old to have his own single room and TV in a "suite" but room and double bed both on small side making it stuffy. A view to the car park is not the best, but it was nice and quiet. Plenty to keep us amused - indoor pool, snooker, table tennis, tennis, TV room (footy put on) and a surprise visit by a great kids entertainer. Good brekky selection. Evening meal quite varied but typical 3 star buffet kept warm under lights. Great location for beach/railway/go karts/amusements/crazy golf.
A family-friendly hotel
A great hotel with friendly staff.
One member off staff quite impressed me when lots of people were ordering and she didn't get to us until later. However she came back to our table once our food had been served and she asked us how the food was, apologized that she couldn't get to us quicker and gave us another choice of curry when a certain meal had ran out and the different recommendation was very nice.
Excellent service and a lovely 3 day break.
Upgraded to a family room with balcony at no extra cost. Very clean etc
Friendly, helpful staff, the few problems we had with a dirty glass, no milk left in the room one evening and no complimentary paper were handled quickly and efficiently.
Breakfast was really good with a great choice. Swimming pool excellent but could do with a toilet in the changing room to avoid walking across the carpeted corridor and through the locked door in wet costume.
