THE ANNEXE - Within a short stroll from Greensands we have built a new annexe to provide more accommodation. Despite this tranquil and rural setting Greensands and the Annexe are only 5 minutes drive from Both Harwell and the Diamond Project as well as Milton Park, one of the largest business parks in the County. Didcot station is only 4 miles drive away and the city of Oxford can also be easily reached within 20 minutes drive down the A34. Situated a few miles South of the Ridgeway and the Berkshire Downs which is a wonderful area to explore on foot or by bike. Greensands is located on the edge of the village of East Hendred, A picturesque village nestled at the foot of the Berkshire downs and a wonderful gateway through which to explore the Ridgeway and the surrounding open countryside. The village of East Hendred itself has won many awards for it's beauty and is a mix of architecture running back though time with an abundance of thatched cottages and timber framed buildings. It also boasts three public houses who all serve food, a village shop and Post Office along with a church with a faceless clock! Our guest house has been awarded a 3 Star rating from the AA. This does not include the Annexe.

Brief stay at the Greensands Guesthouse
Really liked this place because everyone one was so friendly and helpful - real home from home feel. Just what was needed after a very hassled day.
One thing that needs to improve is the confusion over having the guesthouse on two sites - which site I was staying in was not made clear through the Late Rooms online booking process so I ended up at the wrong site as did the taxi driver who cam to collect me next morning.

Room was nice and clean. Had clearly been recently updated and was modern and attractive.
The staff member I met on arrival was friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast was served by a dour girl who wasn't very friendly. I was the only one in the room and ordered sausage and fried egg. I was alarmed shortly after placing my order to hear the 'ping' of a microwave and my food was brought straight out. Had obviously been pre-cooked and warmed up in the microwave - not very appetising or hygenic. It's not difficult to cook a cooked breakfast to order, particularly when I was the only one there!
Would stay again but would skip breakfast.

Excellent
We stayed in the Annexe, setting was superb, large well kept gardens. Staff very friendly and helpful. Property was very clean and bright. Excellent experience. Only one downside the room lacked drawer space, but no problem.

an enjoyable stay which allowed us to visy didcot railway centre and waddeson manor - facilities were great and we enjoyed an evening meal at the plough only a short walk away due to the owners of greensands allowing us to walk thru their property across the road - thankyou - if we visit again we will stay at greensands .
