4AA Assessed Guest Accommodation Ratings explained
Nettleton Shrub Nettleton, Castle Combe, SN14 7NJ
An amazing country retreat located on the ancient Roman Fosseway in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Castle Combe -one of the most beautiful villages in England - yet only one and a half hours from central London. The original Georgian Farmhouse and farmbuildings have been expertly converted by the present owner into superb guest accommodation full of character and style providing B&B and delicious dinners - by advance reservation. In 2005 two luxurious self catering cottages were constructed in the grounds using traditional building materials. The property is within easy reach of Bath, Bristol and the Cotswolds and there are wonderful walking and biking trails in the surrounding countryside. The ancient apple orchard supplies the guests with home made cider and Cream Teas are served in the garden throughout the summer months. Open log fires welcome guests on arrival during the winter with traditional English breakfasts cooked on the Aga using local Wiltshire farm produce.

Nothing of what promised - And everything not expected
The accomodation turned out to be a complete mistepresentation - windy room, uncomfortabe beds, sliced bred in the fridge for breakfast. And certainly not value for money. The owner's idea of hospitality was two bags of crackers under a paper Christmas tree. Amd when we aksed to cancel the second and third day her answer was "so, sue me". Wonderful area Castle Combe! Do not miss it ....bit stay out of this "farmhouse".
She also tried to charge us a fee that was nowhere mentioned!

Nice little B&B outside Bath for short break.
My partner's brother was appearing is a show at the Theatre Royal in Bath and as a result we thought we'd pop down for a night to catch the show and spend a day in Bath. Having decided to book very late in the day, we found Fosse Farmhouse and I must say it was lovely! Although a short drive from Bath the value for money you get staying out-of-town is certainly worth the drive. On that note though you certainly need a car if you're going to stay there as it's a bit out of the way. The accommodation was very quaint and exactly what you'd want from a good farmhouse bed and breakfast. Lovely rooms, with modern facilities seamlessly blended with rural and rustic antiquities. The garden area is particularly beautiful and would be a lovely space to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon. The proprietor, a lovely lady (although I've forgotten her name) was extremely welcoming and cooked a decent full English the next morning with fresh local butter and marmalade for the toast! I would certainly visit again for a short break in the future.

Nice location and friendly owner
The service and accommodation was ok but highly overpriced at £145 a night especially compared to other establishments we have stayed in for half the price

We offer a selection of rooms to guests and depending on what is available on the dates required will always offer the best room rate available. The room booked was a superior family room which sleeps three guests. As only two guests arrived I did enquire why a family room had been selected.I was informed that it was probably a mistake - as there was an option to book a double room at a lower rate on the dates requested. The rate charged was for three guests B&B therefore it is really unfair to claim that the room is overpriced.
