We attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and chose the Holiday Inn Kensington for convenience to this venue. An easy walk there plus the museums and Kensington Palace and gardens. It is also very close to the District and Circle Line tube which was ideal from Victoria Coach station and to get to other venues we planned to visit during our stay. The room though was extremely small with a tiny bathroom barely adequate. My husband went back to reception to ask for a room change but to get a bigger room had to pay £30 per night more. This he did but we only had slightly more room with one comfy chair, courtesy water and snacks. The bathroom was still the same and was actually rather smelly, drains or something! So not great. Breakfast was good as we have always found in Holiday Inns but when we ate in one night we found the service very slow, very pricey for the quality of the meal and nothing special. The other restaurants around the hotel were similar. Expensive but nothing startling. However, overall we enjoyed our stay and the bed was comfortable. Concierge service was also good.

Great for a city break
I have stayed here for business and pleasure and it never fails to please. The staff are very helpful indeed. Slightly pricey perhaps but good all the same.

Top quality hotel
I am not used to London prices so although on the face of it this seemed expensive, it is an absolutely first class hotel just a few hundred yards from Gloucester Road tube. The price is in fact quite reasonable for this quality of hotel and the location.
The room was big enough for two people to move around in with space to spare. It was perfectly clean and the provided ancilliaries are good too.
The restaurant food was excellent, with superb flavours and perfectly sufficient quanities.
The Concierge (Peter) was extremely knowledgable and helpful, with good contacts too. He arranged two good theatre seats to see the popular "Warhorse" that same evening.
Highly recommended hotel.

Good location, decent hotel
Great location, breakfast good. Bed like a trampoline which made it uncomfortable and train/traffic noise a bit annoying but fine for one night, otherwise room small but fine.

Good base for the Proms
This is the third time I have stayed here and, though it is expensive for what it is (in keeping with the area), it is worth it. The rooms are big enough, clean and have the basics you need. We were near the top but that was no issue and it was lovely and quiet - I slept very well. Staff are friendly and helpful. I have stayed in other hotels in the area that are slightly cheaper but I have had terrible experiences and as a result I would rather spend a little more for this hotel and feel I hadn't been fleeced.

Good accomodation appalling customer service
I was told I was booked into a smoking room at check in as I had requested. This turned out not to be the case. A letter was shoved under the door on the last night of my stay addressed to' Mr H' I'm definitely a Ms H btw - what the hell???? stating that i was in breach of regulations by smoking in my room and a fee would have to be paid. At check out the next morning I had an altercation with the clerk at the desk. I explained what had happened at check in and he denied that could have happened and I must be in error. He did reduce the 'smoking in room' fee from £100 to £50 without accepting liability. So a very unpleasant end to my stay and left a bitter taste at the end of my holiday. Anyone booking please treble check and ensure you are getting the room you have requested at check in as they don't seem to know what they are doing
