Our inspector loved "The new stylish bedrooms and the location in the most picturesque of villages."

Just seven miles from the city of Bath, The Castle is set in a characterful Georgian building. The Castle has a playful eccentricity that is Cluedo country house meets traditional country pub. From morning 'til night, The Castle is at your service, whether for morning coffee, light lunch, three-course dinner or just a pint of local beer. To the left of the entrance features the bar with a lovely open fire and deep sunk club chairs. To the right of the entrance are three interconnecting rooms with fireplaces, playful taxidermy and lovely worn reclaimed and restored furniture. Externally is a large, lawned garden with flagstone terrace and views towards Salisbury Plain. Our four generously proportioned bedrooms are more luxury boutique hotel than traditional bed & breakfast. The rooms have a contemporary opulence blended with bags of original character & all of the essentials to meet the needs of a discerning roamer.

Wedding Anniversary Break
This was a quick break away to visit the area, we were made very welcome, the accommodation was very good, we enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant, food was informal and excellent and for us the value was excellent.
It has a real buzz - but it is also very popular so a little busy, a lovely family friendly place with nice staff.

Will deffinitely keep returning, friendly, comfy bed and geat food
This is the second time we have stayed, love the easy to find location, no hassle parking and friendly welcome. I love the quirky decor and feel of the place. Great comfy super king bed, with modern shower room equipped with everything you need. Great full English and dinner was great, having an inspired menu to choose from. Will be back next time we are in the area.

Fabulous
Stayed for a single night with my partner on a road trip to Brighton- Room was exquisite , as was the food served downstairs in the pub. A fine selection of local ales and stouts and very reasonably priced wine with an excellent selection available.

great hotel
We stayed here for 2 nights were greeted by Tori the manageress who was warm and friendly. An oldy worldy hotel with all the wonky walls and floors you would expect. The room was huge and the king size bed a treat. The boutique bedroom was tastefully decorated with a huge shower.Very clean. The food at the hotel was excellent open to the public from 9am till 11pm. Breakfast was excellent and staff couldn't do enough for you.We stayed here to visit longleat and it was just 35 mins away.Big mirror in the room with a plug socket next to it, a good bonus as some hotels don't have a socket next to the mirror. Can't wait to go back.
