Adrian
The hotel was lovely, great location in Selima with restaurants, shops and bars on your doorstep. Valletta just across the water or a few minutes away on the bus, 12 or 13 across the road. The hotel has about five restaurants and a few bars in it. Our room was a bit tired and could do with a touch up. The staff were nice and there was a lovely spa in it. We were there for Christmas and there was a lot ofElvis Christmas songs being played, that was the worst bit so go and enjoy....

the Hotel was well located in Sliema with excellent views of the harbour and Valletta. The room was small and the "double" bed was two singles pushed together with single bed clothes! the storage in the room was good and the shower powerful. There was an earthy smell from the bathroom when left closed up although everywhere was cleaned efficintly each day.
The breakfast buffet had a good range of choice- but no fresh fruit and a tired fruit salad each day. There was only one choice of milk too.
The one buffet dinner had the poorest worst tasting soups we have ever had! The rest of the meal was O K and the choice of courses including Ice Cream and other deserts was good.

Good pools and other general facilities and dining options, though some aspects of the hotel are a little disappointing for a hotel claiming 4 star status. Two of the four lifts were frequently out of action, stuck on various floors. A box of tissues in the bedroom would have been good. I don't like shower gel and shampoo in sachets which are almost impossible to open with wet hands. TV not working on arrival though fixed reasonably swiftly when reported. Wardrobe drawers difficult to open due to bed clothes in way (room 432) and somewhat dusty inside. Having said this, the Fortina is much better value for money than several other hotels that I've stayed in in Sliema.

five star stay
the hotel was over booked and when we arrived, we were told there was no room available.
We were then offered an upgrade to the five star fortina spar next door. We accepted this
as it was an upgrade for the same price. It was clean well presented and over looked the sea.
It was very nice and relaxing. We would not have paid the full price for this hotel, and we had to
walk outside and down the road to the hotel next door to get our breakfast which was anoying
after a few days.
