Reviews - Rennie Mackintosh Station Hotel

2Self Classified Hotel Ratings explained
59 Union Street , Glasgow, G1 3RB
The Rennie Mackintosh Station Hotel is one of the oldest Victorian buildings in Glasgow and forms part of the Architectural Landscape of the city.

As the name suggests the Hotel has many features in connection with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Over the years the hotel has been refurbished but always with an eye to keeping the Mackintosh era alive also every effort is made to retain as much originality as possible. Unfortunately, because the hotel is of a Victorian era there is no passenger lift but we ensure our guests have every assistance with their luggage by prior request. Rooms have got Flat screen TV's, complimentary mineral water, cookies and tea / coffee making facilities.

The rooms vary in size from a single to a family room depending on your needs and all have ensuite bathrooms. The rooms have all the basic amenities required by a business traveller or a tourist. Traditional Scottish Breakfast is included in the price and there is a 24 hour bar to accommodate hotel guests if required.

There is a very quiet lounge for people to sit and relax which also has a free wi fi internet access for the residents only.

Come and enjoy the beautiful city and our warm and friendly service.

Charged £10 for leaving 25 mins late. Desk Clerk extremely rude.
On preparing to leave our room, the maid opened the door and hammered very loudly on the door advising us we were 25 mins late in leaving in a very curt manner. I replied to her sarcastically that perhaps she should have knocked louder. I appreciate that this was quite rude but I didn't expect to be spoken to like that. It was 1055 and we were meant to leave at 1030 (I thought it was 11 like most hotels) When I got to the reception the desk clerk immediately challenged me on the way I spoke to the maid. The maid was there and actually apologised to me for hammering on the door which I accepted. The desk clerk continued to challenge me as to why we were 25 mins late. I advised I thought it was 11. She then advised she would be charging me a £10 late fee!! This staff member is the rudest individual I have ever come across in the service industry and because of her attitude I will never stay at this hotel again.

Rennie Mackintosh Station Hotel
Excellent B&B style hotel. Lovely, pleasant, cheerful, friendly staff. Near everything in town. Only 10 minutes walk to the bus station and near many train stations. This was my third stay there and would certainly recommend the hotel.

Was extremely wary but on arrival , very pleasantly surprised. Room was much larger than I expected
Room could do with a little TLC but it was clean and very comfortable. Complimentary tray was super and I was surprised when it was replenished the second day. Only downside was the noise from the street but what can you expect from a city hotel. The most central hotel that I have stayed in. Staff were all extremely helpful.

Was a little disappointed with the overall quality of the hotel- looked tired and in need of a good clean in communal areas, though the ensuite was very clean.
