this is a good, budget, hotel
look, you get what you pay for.
Is this hotel clean, staff friendly, good service, comfortable room. Yes to all of that. if you want luxury, red carpet, all bells and whistles, well, you need to pay a little more than what they charge here!. It suits me fine to allow me to get something to eat and get my head down for a reasonable price. just one point.....chef needs to season the steak a bit more please!
worst hotel ive stayed in whilst being in stoke.
Hotel was old fashioned in need of renovating.
Had to balance kettle on chair as there was only 1 plug socket in room which did not stretch far. poor drainage system, everytime you run the tap, flush the toilet or have a shower there is a loud groaning noise. I could hear this from my neighbours room also at 6am which woke me up. Tv remote didn't work, staff wanted you to keep towels to save washing which came across as lazy. Bed was reasonable. Housekeeping was fairly good. Rooms look nothing like the photographs provided.
Faded grandeur at the George but it still has charm and is set in one of the five towns of the potteries.
Treadbare carpets, mold on walls and a pair of unpants on the window ledge outside the window !!!
we booked a lovely double executive suite based on the photographs shown.
When we arrived we were given room 207 which had 2 single beds pushed together and a disgusting bathroom. we went to reception and they changed it for room 205. Again 2 single beds but not pushed together, slightly better bathroom but threadbare carpets. The walls had mold, the bedroom door was cracked, paint peeling, the lightshades were missing, the tv remote didn't work, the furniture looked like it was from a car boot sale and there was even a pair of underpants on the window ledge outside the room. The hotel said they had no other rooms, the wifi doesn't work and the stairs carpets are again threadbare... don't stay here
Old property needs a lot of money spending to update, threadbare carpets.
Nice, clean hotel, and friendly staff.
in nead of refurbishment
The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, I mean it felt like nothing has been done to the room since 1980s there was pealing wallpaper, flaking paint, the water preasure in the shower was appalling, the fan in the bathroom did not work, stained carpet, there were no power points next to the bed to charge the phone( I guess in 1980s people did not have mobile phones so there was no nead for socket next to bed) and the icing on the cake was that tv remote volume button did not work.
So to summarise we will not be booking this hotel again
Needs to improve
Duvet was stained, towel was marked, window didn't have a lock, water in shower was tepid.
No sound proofing so quite noisy. Restaurant gave me an out of date menu, so when I ordered something off it they didn't have it. Duvet and towel was replaced after complaining and the wall paper that was coming of the wall was affixed. Don't believe I will be staying there again.
Very good price for a comfortable room, ensuite with tv.
Convenient location in the centre of Burslem although it was a little tricky to find, with limited parking although this turned out not to be a problem. Great customer service as had very pleasant dealings with the receptionist and staff. Would definitely stay at again if revisiting Burslem. I have stayed at a number of hotels in the area and this is the best for a reasonable price that I have stayed in so far.
A great few days break.
Our room was large bright and warm and spotlessly clean, the food was great but above all, the staff were really lovely and friendly and could not have been more helpful.
A smashing stay, thank you.
