More of a locals cheap boozer than a hotel
Room was ok however furnishings were very worn.
Comfy Bed shame about the patched cover.
Breakfast was held in the main bar and was all a bit of a let down stingey portions on the full english. One hard fried egg,one very small sausage one rasher of nice bacon and loads of cheap nasty beans. All rounded of with a lack of staff.

Good value in pleasant surroundings
This is a charming old hotel in the centre of Godalming. Both my room and ensuite were pleasant and well maintained. It was a bit small but for the price I couldn't fault it. The breakfast was basic but adequate. It's a shame that such an historic place doesn't have a log fire!

An ok experience
I thought the place was rather drab. The furniture in the bar/restaurant had splits in it and the corridors had old and tatty décor. The room and bathroom were comfortable although the bed was rather lumpy.
food was generally good though and the staff friendly. nice location in centre of town meant it was easy to walk out in the evening and enjoy the good pubs

Really lovely hotel, warm and comfortable. Didn't get chance to try an evening meal as checked just after they had stopped serving but plenty of options within the town which the receptionist helped with. Really clean room and use of a hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities. Only small downside is being at the front of the hotel - morning deliveries in the town can be a bit loud but seriously not a major problem just aware of it. But it was a Monday morning
Breakfast was ok plenty of options and all staff really helpful and nice

OK for Short Business Stay
Stop taking orders for hot breakfasts at 8.50am but do not tell you when you check in or on website. No late bar, have to take last drinks into small side room and get locked in. Will not serve anything after 11pm, highly unusual for a hotel with a pub as part of it. Booked on late rooms with breakfast for £59 (pasted below), charged me £69 on check in. Could not be bothered to debate it. Good location.

night service
In general satisfactory BUT no facility for contacting staff member through the night. At 3.15 in the morning was woken by water dripping through room ceiling. Tried to find method to contact staff. Put waste bucket in position but kept awake by drips! On talking to staff in morning was met with a shrug of the shoulders and comment that they had problems with roof. Bar staff pleasant and helpful.
