Room was lovely and spacious, bed comfy, tasty fresh cooked breakfast with plenty of choice, warm and welcoming hosts (nothing was too much trouble), ideal location.
The Riftwood was a wonderful find tucked away in West Cliff.
Peter and Paula were the most friendly of hosts and could not do enough. There are only three bedrooms, all on the first floor. Ours was the smallest of the three but it was fine. We had an En-suite shower room and basin but our toilet was just three steps away on a lower landing. This wasn't really a problem as it was just for us. The breakfast was extremely tasty and lots to choose from. We hope to return but book early as they are popular.
Great all round-really nothing to complain about
Really nice meet and greet on arrival with nice extra touches!, hosts were really nice friendly knowledgeable people who couldn't do enough for you.
Room was nice clean and comfortable and a great breakfast to set you up for the day. It's in a good quiet location and only two mins to the beach and about 10 mins walk into town. Overall a good short break experience.
What a lovely friendly genuine couple, couldn't do enough for you.
We booked late so had the standard room, which was smaller and had a private toilet next door. We were welcomed with wine and cake, and they were both very knowledgable on the whole area. Had personalised information sheets and pre breakfast orders. The house was a very short walk to sea front and in a quite side street. Breakfast was excellent, as was the scrambled egg. We hope to return again next year. Thanks Peter, Paula and Denzel.
We used this accommodation as a stopover on our way down south.
It was perfect ...the owners were very welcoming the location ideal...our only complaint the noisy seagulls !!. lol . Highly recommended .
Fantastic B&B - can't praise highly enough!
We stayed for only 1 night, wish it could have been longer.
The B&B is in a nice quiet location, a short scenic stroll from the town. The room was lovely, very spacious, beautiful decor, comfy bed, plenty of wardrobe hanging space and tea, coffee, hot choc facilities with biscuits and chocolates. The bathroom was clean with good shower. Paula and Pete (and Denzil the friendly dog) were excellent hosts who have perfected the B&B experience with plenty of nice touches such as personalised forms in our room giving info on the B&B, the surrounding area and breakfast options and we were offered wine and fruitcake while unpacking and freshening up before going out to explore Whitby. Paula did a great job at breakfast, I chose kippers and poached eggs, while my partner chose the full english, both were fab. there was also plenty of toast and the offer of homemade jams and marmalades. We were given the option of going for breakfast a little later than the usual times, which suited us to have more of a lie in. All in all, a great time was had and if we go to Whitby again, I would choose the Riftswood every time.
Very warm welcome and host Paula could not do enough for you, great place to stay.
A little gem
Excellent accommodation in a central Whitby location.
Paula and Peter were very welcoming, the room was small so moving around was slightly painful.
Food was good, advise on Whitby excellent. A good budget stop.
We had a 4 night break at riftswood and it was absolutely wonderful from being greeted by Paula with home made cake, wine, tea or coffee, right up until we left.
Peter and Paula are the perfect hosts, we wanted to do some coastal walks and they printed maps for us and gave us great tips and advice about where to go. The room was beautiful, even better than they look on the photo's and breakfast was beautiful and great choices, my husband particularly enjoyed Fortunes kippers on two of the mornings. Nothing was too much trouble. Must give a mention to Denzil the dog, the gentle giant, he is beautiful and has such a wonderful nature, my husband is not a particular dog person but Denzil stole his heart, if anyone doesn't like dogs Peter & Paula would keep him out of the way but I couldn't imagine anyone not being captivated by Denzil. All in all we had a perfect stay and will definitely be returning.
