3Self Classified Small Hotel Ratings explained
Lion Hotel High Street, buckden, pe19 5xa
The Lion Hotel is a 15th century, Grade 11 listed building, imposing and refined – able to impress the most discerning of guests. Welcoming guests into it “Grand Hall”, retaining much of its original 15th Century fireplace, burning natural logs within a decidedly cosy atmosphere. The oak-panelled restaurant provides an elegant setting to enjoy some carefully prepared, local produce. All of our 15 bedrooms are fully en-suite; four posters, double, twin and family rooms. They all have central heating, direct dial telephone, trouser press, hair dryer, remote controlled television, radio and tea and coffee making facilities. There is an access ramp for one room which is suitable for the disabled.

A Night at the Lion
An old English inn with a lot of character. I recommend getting a double room even if you are on your own and the large one with the four poster bed is worth trying to book. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have recently had a new manager and the service in the restaurant seemed rather slow, but it was a Saturday night. Recommended.

Excellent as always
Have stayed in the Lion in Buckden on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Room one with the four poster is a huge room with sofa and lovely bathroom. Staff are always top notch and very friendly and the food is even better than we remembered. Will definitely be staying their again Highly recommended!

Room 25
Stayed in room 25 for 2 nights over bank holiday weekend.
Beds nice & comfortable. Room & cleanliness ok for price we paid.
Could do with a shelf in bathroom to put flannels & shaving gear on.
Radiator in room not working but found a fan heater so used that instead.
Breakfast was excellent.
Would stay again.

Ancient Inn
A stay at an historic hotel with inglenook fireplace and unique beam timbers in lounge. Sloping floors reflex the age of the hotel around 1492. Shower in roll top bath with surrounding shower curtain. Fun experience.

acceptable
Tired and in need of a renovation. Welcome not helped by being given keys to someone else's room. The half dressed young lady was not impressed! Parking is in the street in reality. At the end of the day it was OK, but that's it.
