Reviews - East View Guest House

4Self Classified Guest House Ratings explained
110 Warwick Road, , , Carlisle, CA1 1JU
East View Guest House is an AA Rated 4 Star guest house in the centre of Carlisle. It is a a friendly family run Victorian Guest House, offering a high standard of accommodation. Ideally situated close to the city centre (5 minute walk). We are close to excellent restaurants and many historic sites, including Carlisle Castle. Useful as a base for Hadrian's wall walkers and the nearby lake district. Our bed and breakfast accommodation is popular with walkers and cyclists groups. Carlisle Cathedral offers you the chance to view a fine example of Medieval architecture. The 14th century stained glass east window and magnificently decorated ceiling once looked down on the marriage of Sir Walter Scott and his French bride. Visit Carlisle Racecourse for an enjoyable - and hopefully profitable - day of flat or National Hunt racing. Enjoy spectacular sunsets, rare wildlife and inspiring views along the Solway Firth salt marshes and dunes - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walk in the footsteps of the Legions, along the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and around the beautiful surrounding areas or take a trip on Hadrian's Wall Bus, visiting some of the friendly market town and villages along the way. Visit the fascinating interactive visitor centre at Birdoswald Roman Fort and find out about 2000 years of history in one of the most impressive locations on Hadrian's wall. Extensive Breakfast choices including Full English or Continental, or large vegetarian option. Special diets are catered for.

ok
Hotel rooms where nice, bed wasn't that comfortable and it had a foot board, my husband is tall and had to sleep side ways. Room was hot at night, but couldn't open windows as we where down stairs on main road and didn't want unwelcome guests climbing in. On welcome, we where pushed to side in the hall by the owner, so he could get out the door then left in hall way for a while unsure, but later was to get key for room but we wernt told this. Breakfast was nice but, when we entered room there was no where it to sit and had to ask another guest if we could sit at their table. We stayed in Carlisle on way to Scotland, we found Carlisle full of drunks and druggies, when mentioned to owner this she said it's a student area, it wasn't them but seemed like locals - wouldn't visit again.

A great place to stay
Excellent level of comfort, delicious breakfast and great attention to detail - there was even an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. The location was perfect, within walking disance of the town centre.

Welcoming and Friendly
Much like the city of Carlisle itself (a huge contrast from the chaotic rushing and fuss of London which we passed through to and from our holiday trip) the East View was warm and welcoming. Lovely breakfast provided and thanks to it being the off season, we even had a choice of which room we would like. (We went for the very nice Room 7 on the top floor).

Like stepping back in time! Lovely to see a Victorian residence looking Victorian, although it was pleasant to see the bathroom, which I always like to see in a modern state, suitably attired! Very clean, wonderful breakfast that stood us well, on our travels back down to Cornwall. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a gentle relaxing stay. Thank you.
