Read this review for the lowdown, there's a lot of useful info here for a first time stayer.

Having read previous reviews I was aware of the key pick up point being somewhere near the newsagents next to the motorbike shop on Charlotte Street, but I can't imagine either of those establishments being particularly happy about the situation, especially peak season when many guests are trying to find the hotel and doubtless making enquiries at the motorbike shop.

The sign at the collection point says to go to 'Monacle' newsagent, wherever that may be, the one next to the sign is called 'The Week'. All a little confusing really. And although after ringing the bell marked Flexistay apartments, someone did come to my aid within a few minutes, my personal advice to anyone who has booked, would be to first try 35 Tottenham Street on arrival, where the hotel is actually located, next to George's Shoe Repairs and ring the bell or knock on the door there. The reason for the separate pick up point is apparently to deter late night revellers and other potentially unwanted characters from attempting to gain access to the premises is search of a bed for the night.

Shortly after arrival, famished, I dashed up the stairs and helped myself to a couple of greedy bowls of cereal and some scrambled eggs on toast. I left the bacon alone since there wasn't a lot left. There was however lots of bread and eggs. Also ham, cheese, those tasty cocktail type sausages, packets of butter, jam, marmalade, ketchup, fruit juices and milk and lots of other goodies, as well as packets of biscuits in the kitchen and a bowl of fruit consisting mainly of apples on the living room table. If you're a foodie like me you will have to exercise a bit of restraint.

As far as I could see, there were three floors, with four bedrooms, a small kitchen and two bathrooms to each floor. I tried to take a shower in the evening and the hot water taps were delivering water at fridge temperature. So I gave up on the shower and just washed my face instead. The bathroom light switches are outside the room, so if someone accidently or jokingly turns off the light while you're in the shower, good luck. The bedroom I knew wasn't going to be huge, but actually, really not bad, functional wardrobe, fold out table and chair, contemporary décor and I even had a view of the iconic BT Tower. On the top level, fourth floor, is a lounge and a larger kitchen. This kitchen is generally equipped with food for the consumption of all guests, unless of course marked otherwise. Outside is quite a spacious area, for smoking, sunbathing or whatever.

The usual hotel bugbears, cupboard doors that don't shut properly, also the balcony outside needs a couple of screws in it, and a disgustingly dirty tv remote in the bedroom, simple cheap fixes, signs of neglect that can make all the difference to the people that stay, without costing the earth to put right, were alas, evident here too. And I've just noticed from the photos that the fridge in the living/dining area is planted right in front of the radiator under the window. Surely, hoteliers, you would be better off removing the one from the kitchen, which is unused and whose door is being held shut by a folded up tea towel and replacing it with the one in the dining area.

Overall, very pleased and I would definitely stay again and also recommend to friends. This has the cost benefits of a hostel, without having to share a bedroom with strangers and is in a great location. I'd say if you stay here, try to leave everything, or at least everything outside your own room in as good, or better condition as you found it and if you can achieve that then these sorts of places will work really well for all concerned. For example, when I arrived back from late night clubbing at around 4.30am, I cooked myself a nice full English, had a couple of glasses of juice and afterwards washed up and put all the relevant bits back in the cupboards, along, might I add, with all the other stuff that had been left on the rack by other less thorough guests. I also gave the hob a quick clean down while I was about it cos it looked as if it hadn't been done for quite a while.

Great

Great location and value - room was clean, modern and comfy.

Bathroom was very small but perfectly managable. Had a pleasant conversation with a professor using the shared kitchen over breakfast.

Room was small but clean and cheap for central london..

Entrance hall and stairs could do with freshening up,

Happy little Harry potter cupboard.

Apart from the lack of cohesive signage on the door (which doesn't match the name of the hotel see on laterooms.com) everything was hunkydory.

Clean room, communicative and friendly staff in a fabulous location.

You'd have to be dreaming in the bed provided to be able to swing a cat in the room but for a place to lay your head inbetween meetings it's not bad at all.

Positive Experience

As a first time single traveller in a serviced apartment for the first time it has been a very positive experience.

The staff member was very prompt pleasant and helpful. The single room and bathroom was small but clean and comfortable, with everything I required. (hairdryer, iron, ironing board) The kitchen dinning area (one to each floor) was clean and bright and fresh and very well equipped. The food for breakfast in the fridge was fresh, tea and coffee available. A very relaxed way of travelling and would stay there again.

Good location

Good basic accommodation.

Shared bathroom, but 4 rooms for 2 bathrooms, so never a problem. Noisy neighbourhood, Construction going on, but also many shops and restaurants and night life, so that is what to expect. Very nice staff.

Very good value and friendly people; a bit noisy but I expected it to be after reading another review about the laminate floors, and this is London after all.

A good place to stay

Friendly staff, excellent location to stay handy for central London, good to be able to sort breakfast yourself, rooms adequate.

The location of the apartment was within easy walking distance to Oxford Street, Soho and Covent Garden.

The room was comfortable and there was a variety of food available for breakfast. The wash facilities were also good. All in all a very pleasant stay
