THE SANDY COVE HOTEL
Lovely location, helpful staff, some common areas could do with updating but other areas were lovely I.e.
dining room. Made use of the pool - a great asset in the winter.
One night break ( Well deserved !!! )
Everything was of a high quality, with excellent service from the very friendly and helpful staff.
I would definately reccommend the hotel to anyone....
Cant wait to go back
A lovely place to stay.
Very nicely decorated, pool was warm and clean, steam room and sauna were the icing on the cake and we had it to ourselves. The view was beautiful and altogether my partner and I had a very special time. There is a short walk to a secluded bay which was nce to visit after our breakast. Mushrooms were lovely. Looking forward to returning.
Lovely stay for families and couples
A lovely place to stay, food excellent and breakfast was lovely.
Would definitely stay again
The Sandy Cove Hotel
We stayed for one night we Rely on wifi so when we booked this hotel it clearly stated Wi-Fi available we arrived and no Wi-Fi they had four separate routers all key locked but refused to let us use the Wi-Fi inside pool covered by a greenhouse roof very dirty!!
Originally booked two nights but decided to stay for away for 3.
First room (51) was excellent with stunning view across the bay. Room size was very good with all facilities. Bed was very comfortable. Coffee/milk facilities were not topped up during the room clean and had to go to reception to request more. For the last night we had to change rooms (8). This was on the floor below and nearer a thoroughfare corridor. More noise at night and light shining under the door into the room. The room was smaller and the TV, although bracketed onto the wall was positioned on the slant so viewing was uncomfortable. This is why the marks are lower for customer service and room quality. Overall a good hotel with friendly staff. Despite the small anomalies, would stay again.
Totally oustanding hotel
This hotel is fabulous in every respect.
Breakfasts are first class, evening meals are excellent, room was spotless, comfortable, and with beautiful views, and staff were polite and helpful. This was an A1 experience and it was a privilege to stay here.We would happily return.
THE SANDY COVE HOTEL
Shown to a horrible room to start with - lino on floor - wet room (an insult to the disabled - we are not disabled) which smelled very strongly of bleach.
Two weddings whilst we were there - very noisy - food mediocre - beautiful view which is why the hotel gets away with all that is not good!
Good service on reception but the Hotels badly in need of an update. Dogs allowed but not everywhere
I pretty much agree with most previous reviews on Sandy Cove in that the setting is fantastic but the hotel feels unloved.
I read somewhere that they were starting an update but apart from the reception area being quite nice I didn't see any signs of it. Our Room had worn dirty carpets and areas of peeling wall paper. The bathroom was very dated and not very clean plus the toilet lid was missing. It's the same story in the warren of corridors leading to the rooms with marked walls and worn carpets. The sound proofing between rooms and the corridors is also very poor. On a positive note the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The Hotel also says it's dog friendly, and they are allowed in the grounds and in the rooms but not in the bar area so there's nowhere to sit with them if you want a drink . We got a last minute rate through Laterooms which to me was nearer the mark in terms of what they should be charging for rooms in the current state. Overall I wouldn't recommend it.
The room was very nice indeed, a lovely bed, gorgeous view and nice and clean...however, when the next door occupants arrived it was a different story.
The room almost shook with the noise of the power shower and we could hear everything going on in the adjoining rooms. After clearly having spent a small fortune on updating this hotel, they forgot to add insulation to the walls. I accept that they had only just opened but the restaurant was a complete joke - no one knew what they were doing (almost all were students) and when we asked for a steak because there was nothing left on the menu that we wanted, they said they had run out!. If you ate in you either had the set meal ( a choice between 4 dishes which didn't even change daily) which they bizarrely called the al la carte menu or you went to the local pub/fish and chip shop!. We guessed that this hotel had only just reopened but if I am paying the full price, I expect the full deal. The manger/owner didn't even asked if we had enjoyed our stay - I wonder why???
