We stayed for a short weekend break.
Hotel is in an amazing location and everyone is very friendly. We stayed in a delux family room which was a bit on the small side but clean and tidy with great views. On arriving we found the bed was broken but this was fixed almost immediately with no fuss. We had an evening meal and breakfast and both were excellent. The pool and sauna/steam room are all of a good standard. On a sunny weekend it really is a great place to stay. We all agreed we would like to stay here again which says how good we thought itwas.
The pictures on line looked good, the outside was as it looked although the interior requires attent
The interior requires decorating.
The reception staff looked scruffy. Waiting staff very poorly presented and lacking in ability. On check in we did not feel welcomed and almost an inconvenience to the business and most unwelcome to eat in the restaurant as we did not book within the 30 minute deadline so we drove to a friendly restaurant in town. I booked the bridal suite on line but this was not the room we were allocated but paid the bridal room rate. I feel this hotel trades on the views not the service. Very disappointed customer
Amazing surroundings, fantastic food and staff.
From arrivinge we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff.
Sandy Cove is situated in a fantastic location, the building is well kept as are the gardens. The only downside to our stay was the dated bathroom with cracked wash basin, overhead mixer tap shower that had no pressure and stopped if you moved the showerhead hose. Even with this in mind and that we have family living onyl half a mile away from the hotel, we still enjoyed our stay at Sandy Cove and look forward to staying again soon. Thank you.
Glad we weren't put off by the negative reviews
We needed to book a room at short notice and found this hotel online..
We were almost put off by the negative reviews but there were sufficient good reviews for us to take a chance. We arrived at 7pm and were pleasantly surprised. Our room (standard, not superior etc) was an interconnecting room, so my husband and I had a double room and a large bathroom with a lovely large corner bath, and our 3 year old twins had a smaller interconnecting room with a single bed, z-bed and their own smaller bathroom. Each room had its own TV which was great for the twins and would have been highly beneficial had we have been in the room longer. The room was by no means spotless - cobwebs, rubbish under furniture (which we only discovered as we were looking for the TV remote control) and the hoovering hadn't been very thorough, but on the whole, the room was large, the bed comfortable, generously stocked tea and coffee tray, shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom and there were more than sufficient towels. We had no view as were at the back of the hotel but this in no way bothered us as we arrived late and were leaving after breakfast.
The breakfast was very enjoyable, a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit and nuts, juice, toast (self service) and the actual cooked breakfast was delicious. Admittedly not as much choice as some hotels but what was available was good quality and nicely presented.
The view is lovely, especially from the lounge where we sat after breakfast and we took advantage of the sunny weather and walked around the grounds before leaving. Overall, we would book again and thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. I would also just mention that all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Young family guests
The hotel is in a stunning location.
The food and all staff were brilliant, 5 star. Will definatley be returning as its not often you travel with a 2 and 4 year old and it feels like an actual break!
