Quiet , peaceful haven in a busy schedule
We know Sidmouth quite well as family live there but didn't know about the Salty Monk. A friendly welcome, and even more welcomed was the upgrade to a lovely bright room with a splendid bath & spa shower-perfect for a soak after a busy day. Nice touches- real coffee, fresh milk, comfy cushions, magazines and helpful hosts. The Salty Monk is only 5-10 minutes drive out of Sidmouth town and nicer quality and cleaner than some of the seafront hotels we've stayed in over the years. We'll certainly consider staying again-and next time maybe try some of the food that other reviewers rave about. The breakfast on Sunday morning certainly smelled good.

Probably the best hotel I have stayed at
With a small number of rooms you expect and get good service. The room was excellently furnished and although the bathroom was a bit tight it was very modern.
This is really a restaurant with rooms and the food is probably the best I have had for a long time; not cheap but worth the money.
Its location was ideal for exploring the area. If you like to walk then the Sidmouth seafront is 30mins walk (with no traffic) along the banks of the river Sid.

Excellent experience
A fantastic find - a lovely, homely experience from start to finish. The rooms are very well done, the food was outstanding and none of it was overbearing. A great find, well worth it.
