Old Grey Mare
Lovely people, fresh linen, basic cleanliness, attention to detail of dust and splashes particularly in bathroom would improve appearance.
The pub had a bad day over food as no fresh fruit availalbe, the cooked food looked delicious, the cost of my breakfast was refunded with grace.
rooms were really clean which for us is the most important.
in our room the toilet didn't flush which was a bit disappointing but other than that eveything was fine. We enjoyed the later checkout of 12 o'clock which was a real bonus with 2 teenagers. Staff were all really friendly.
Visiting Hull Uni..this is so convenient!
Ideal for us as we were attending an interview at Hull University, which is quite simply across the road.
Although we booked a twin room we were allocated a family room which was spacious and more suited as my teenage son had his own single room. Staff very helpful and so friendly. Very good value for money and would stay again. Many thanks for allowing me to leave my car in the car park for the day too as this made life just that more easy.
I found the hotel excellent for a short stay, the food was as expected for this type of hotel, the parking was good, the room and service was good.
Access to the university is excellent. I will be happy to stay here again.
Great Location for me!
Being close to Hull University this was an ideal location for a quick weekend trip to see my daughter.
Quite a long walk to my room with my suitcase and up and down lots of stairs so not for anyone with mobility problems. Rooms were clean and comfortable if a bit basic but excellent value for money. Not keen on the Restaurant idea of ordering at the bar with your table number - a bit hard to do as a lone traveller incase someone should sit at your table while you are at the bar ordering. There was quite a queue when I was there so I left my book on the table and by the time I got back from the bar with my drink the book was gone. Staff had moved it but did bring it back - think this system needs thinking about. Bar area could have been cleaner and dishes etc were not sparkling clean but the staff were friendly and chatty and very welcoming.
Stayed here a couple of years ago, and stayed because of convenience for University Open Day.
Visited with a little trepidation as stay on last occasion was OK. OGM has improved in every way, Neat, clean and warm rooms, pleasant and helpful staff and great value for money. Would definitely stay again.
Good room good food no sleep
Overall this was a good place to stay but I am a light sleeper and our room was above the cellar so when the bar had closed up we heard a lot of noise from the cellar and also at 7 am the next morning.
Also out side of our room was a very large air duct which hummed all night. I would stay at this hotel again but not in room 3.
Old Grey Mare Inn by Good Night Inns
Friendly, clean, good food, beer, and music.
we stayed one night.
Room is simple, but adequate, clean and silent. Breakfast was great and, most important, the staff is very friendly and absolute service oriented. They try to help you out the best they can on any question!
Interesting reception desk on left hand side of the bar

www.goodnightinns.co.uk, and they have free wifi always a plus for me. Location was excellent right opposite the University, ample parking and 10min walk away from the lively bars and restaurants as you walk out of the hotel to the right by where the church is at the corner. The room was excellent, though the towel rail kept falling off its holder and the WHB was partially blocked and cistern flushed intermittently, all minor hiccups, which I didn't report. The morning and afternoon staff were attentive and welcoming thought he evening staff were less so.Be warned I had room 3 which is a trek way top of the stairs and through at least 6 fire doors and other small steps between each door way. This will always be my first consideration on booking when visiting this area.
