Staff friendly ,the room was clean but basic Excellent value for money! Shame No Car Park ouch!!!
We have used this chain of hotels before and have found them to be good value for money generally clean and tidy but we hadnt realised with this one a lack of parking facilities, This fact could have been made more obvious at the time of booking as we would have caught the train

Not up to scratch
Seedy and run down. Carpets worn and bathroom and especially the shower needed replacing
Long queues in restaurant with food running out, Did not appreciate being called "Luvvy"!
Terrible value for money even at discounted rate.
Would avoid future stays like the plague.

Alright for someone older, who appreciates the decor.
The bed felt like it was a sheet thrown over some wooden slats, it was very uncomfortable. The room we had, the wardrobe doors were missing and all the furniture was terribly outdated. It even had an old CRT TV, as opposed to a basic flat screen. My mother stayed at the same place, 10 years ago and it still has the same decor, to this day. Needs modernising.
Otherwise, a quiet stay and pleasant staff.

The cold water tap in the bathroom had to be turned round a number of times before the water came through and then made a terrible noise. I could also hear other taps in other rooms doing the same. The reception staff were totally uninterested. The breakfast was appalling, cold food, poor quality, and tea and coffee was served in flasks, which was cold and tasted foul. In this day and age a pot of hot tea is not too much to ask. There was a coach party in on the first day and the staff seemed unable to cope. The decor was shabby.

shoddy
The room was poorly maintained, the bed side table had a knob missing, there were black scuff marks on the walls, the hairdryer lead was broken at the wall attachment so the wires were visible and whilst there was a lamp above one bed the other lamp had no lampshade or bulb just the arm which would have contained it

nice hotel great central location
Well Coventry is not going to win an award for happiest place in the UK any time soon this attitude im afraid also rubs off on the hotel staff.
while the hotel is lovely and has amazing food i just didnt like the lack of a smile from anyone working there, maybe its because im a cheery chap myself but i think a smile goes a long way. over all great hotel but staff could be better.

Not overly impressed!!
I wasn't overly impressed with the hotel to begin with as accessing the hotel for a start was very difficult due to the only access road to the entrance of the hotel was closed due to road works so this meant we had to find a spot to pull over so I could walk 200yards to the hotel to ask where we park as there was no hotel car park even tho information is given there is parking available for a small fee which we did not mind, but the fail to mention it's a further 100yards down the road in a public car park which if I'm honest doesn't look the safest was a big let down! So my child and I were forced to walk 300yards with our luggage to the hotel reception. Arriving into the room I can't say I was impressed the room was dated and in need of a thorough cleaning, the bedding wasn't put on straight, I found empty lager cans down the back of the bed, splatters of some kind of liquid up the walls ( I assume this was lager due to the lager cans found) and also the curtains didn't even draw fully closed leaving a gap a meter wide in the middle of the 12ft wide window! The bathroom was again dated but no complaints on cleanliness in there, was a slight patch of mold appearing above the mirror which isn't very attractive! All in all the room could use a lick of paint and fresh furniture as 70% of drawers had no handles on! The over bed lamps flickered for a few minutes before actually turning on and the lamp shades were just balancing on top of the bulbs which were not even the correct bulbs for the fitting! On a positive note the bedding and towels were fresh and bins were emptied on a daily basis. Having experience working in a 4star hotel & spa I was not impressed with this hotels room, the rest of the hotel was lovely and breakfast was delightful with plenty of option and friendly staff. Even tho we were not offered a highchair for our baby throughout our dining experience and could not see any in sight to help ourselves to but this wasn't a major issue but would have made our dining experience alot more easier and enjoyable if we had a highchair. The hotel was good value for money but that's about all!
