Lovely hotel enjoyed our stay but TV in room was dated apart from that it was fine
Service was very good and the staff were more than helpful with my evening meal as I cannot eat sauces but they done me a chicken meal with veg.
Room was very 'tired', needed renovation
renovation/ refurbishment required ...
plumbing was a particular problem!
Not family friendly
We were surprised that the only family rooms in the hotel were situated on the second floor but there was no lift in the hotel.
On check in staff offered to help carry the pushchair but at all other times we had to manage it ourselves, not easy with a ten month old baby and a toddler
Hotel location was fine, just off the M1 but the rooms were quiet, not much traffic noise.
Check in was very good, receptionist was a very smart, efficient, friendly and helpful young man. The decor of the hotel is very tired, threadbare carpets and very 80's dark wood fittings. The bedroom was very clean and so was the bathroom, but again in need of some upgrading. Dinner in the hotel was not the best I've ever had. We were given different menus one was better than the other but unfortunately it was the better one which they took away. One of the napkins on the table was dirty, like it had been used to pick up a plate with gravy on it and then put back on the table. Food was over priced for the quantity and quality and when you order battered Haddock you don't expect to be given Pollock. And the coffee at the end was tepid and served in cold cups which made it a very unpleasant end to a disappointing meal. Then to cap it all we had the worst nights sleep we have ever had - the bed/mattress was V shaped so very uncomfortable and we both woke up with bad backs. So all in all very disappointed and wouldn't go back there again.
Lovely hotel nice staff and an amazing breakfast
Could do with larger pillows to match the large bed.
Bed was very comfortable and bigger than the Premier Inn across the road. Facilities in the room much better than the Premier Inn at similar price.
The hotel has been the same for the past five years since we started using the hotel.
It's the same old furniture the same old TVs and wallpaper peeling off the walls the rooms need some updating along with the TV channels and the hard to stay on WI-FI. If you can look past all this the hotel is good but not a luxury hotel
Overall value for money quite good
We were on a DBB package We had a nice room which was clean and well furnished.
The staff were all very attentive an polite. The dinner menu was interesting but limited. However the ingredients were a bit indigestible.
My main grumble would be the bar prices. Over £5 for a pint is too much for the status of the establishment. Breakfast was very good.
Would I stay again, no. In previous years I have stayed in a hotel a bit further north, which has rooms with antiques, books and nice art, stately grounds, real table etiquette, tablecloths, staff that take drinks through to the dining room when the table is ready, food from local farms etc, a bottle of chilled wine in the room all for a quite a bit less cost. So although this hotel is not bad I can get better.
