Great hostel, really nice and friendly staff!
Base for Ben Nevis Mountain Race
Enjoyed my stay very much , the only down side was that one of the gentlemen staying in the same room snored his head off during the night, the day before the race, (must pack ear-plugs next time .
) The accommodation is clean and there is ample space for cooking, dining and lounging around. One word of caution though , if you are contemplating walking from Fort William after disembarking from the train, it's a fair slog approximately 3 miles. So be prepared for that !
Satisfactory but not much more
Generally, the stay in Chase The Wild Goose Hostel was okay, but for the price I paid, I expected a little bit more.
Especially the fact that you had to pay extra for locker keys and internet was a little bit annoying. Furthermore, the rooms only have very few electricity plugs for many people, which is quite inconvenient. The beds are very small, so it is not possible for an adult person to sit upright on a lower bed. The keys are so big, that they don't fit in any pocket - and therefore tend to get lost much easier. Now the positive things: I really enjoyed the service of the manager on that weekend (13.7.-16.7.). He took the time asking me about my activity plans, made useful suggestions, what people can do in the Highlands depending on the weather and mobility situation and was always very nice. He also organised me a lift to Glen Nevis, which would have been very tedious to go to by bus. I really appreciated that much and forgive him, that he just took away my bath accessory from the bathroom without telling anyone. Totally seen, it was not the worst of all accommodations but you can find better ones for that price.
