Tatty decor
Host was very pleasant. Food was very good although would have preferred a written menu to choose from as opposed to given verbally. Good comfortable bed. Shower was acceptable if a little tight for space. Décor was very tatty, a very poor DIY job

Could be Great... But it isn't...
When we arrived it almost felt as though they weren’t expecting anyone. We were asked to sit in the bar area, with no offer of a drink or anything, as they looked into our booking. It does feel a little odd when you enter as there is no ‘official’ reception area.
Once we were sorted and had paid for the room, something else I found a bit strange as I’ve never had to pay before check out – the room had been held on a card. The young man on duty helpfully carried our bags to the room for us and let us in. The batteries in the TV remote weren’t working and there was something wrong with the TV speakers, however, we only wanted to watch TV as we showered and got ready. There was an issue with the hot water as it was not coming through the taps or the shower. I rang to reception and was told by the young man on duty that he would look into it. He called about 15 minutes later to say it should be working, unfortunately this was not the case and after calling again we could hear him having to bang pipes outside our room! Once the hot water was running through he did, kindly, offer us a free breakfast the next day by way of an apology.
We got ready and went out to our wedding party down the road. The bride actually told me she had tried to make enquiries about weddings at the Gomersal Lodge and no one had got back to her…
When it came to going to bed, the pillows provided weren’t actually pillows and if they were they were ripped?! They seemed more like some kind of pillow filler stuffed into a pillow case and they were not comfortable!
We had a cooked breakfast in the morning and as hotel breakfasts go it was quite nice; hash browns, egg, bacon, sausage, choice of toast. We were told continental was also set out, but all we saw was a few yoghurts in a tray of water and a selection of cereal, I’m not sure I’d class this as a continental selection?
The longer we were there, the more we started to notice things, like cobwebs on the paintwork and the old paper in our room had just been papered over with new that didn’t actually go all the way to the top of the wall! The furniture in the room was dusty. My husband said he felt like he was cramped in a caravan shower when he used it and it looked to have been done on the cheap. It just felt like everything was a quick fix!
It’s a real shame as the marquee area for events did look like an appealing venue for a wedding etc and it is set in beautiful grounds. It has the feel of somewhere that could be great, with the long driveway, appealing building and surroundings. But it needs more than some cheap furniture and a half done wallpaper job! Maybe it is a work in progress? I don’t know? But unless I heard the rooms had had a refurb, I would not stay again or recommend it!

Filthy, smelly, pubic hairs in the bed, locked in the building unattended!
Do not visit this hole of a hotel. Filthy bedding covered in someone else's pubic hair, no towels, smelly and unhygienic. We were locked into the hotel when we awoke in the morning and had to let ourselves out without checking out or even the offer of breakfast. Letter of complaint sent to and will never return.
Faulty Towers!

A bargain
The room was a little tired round the edges, the bed was new and very comfortable. A dated shower didn't help.
Thw staff were very helpful, Nice views of the grounds

A long way to go
This hotel is preening itself to be a wedding venue due to the lovely grounds it sits in
However the accomodation is shocking
Dont be fooled by the photographs on the website the bear no resembalnce to the actual rooms if the room I used was anything to go by
I booked a single which was supposed to be a double for single occupancy
I have two bathrooms at home which are both bigger than this room
Not good by a long way
I know the owners have aspirations but to reach them they need to invest

Cosy
Freindly owner and staff, room a little cold at night but no problems. Good breakfast and a cherry smile in the morning from the waiting staff.
Fantastic surroundings , would love to see it in the summer. Did not eat there as there was a function on but there is a great pub at the end of there drive

Gomersal Lodge Hotel
This was our second stay here. The hotel has been considerably refurbished since our last visit. Everything was lovely - the accommodation, the setting, the staff. There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere throughout our stay. We've already booked for next year.
