4AA Assessed Guest Accommodation Ratings explained
Bristol Road Thornbury, Bristol, BS35 3XL
A visit to Thornbury Lodge in the ancient market town of Thornbury is a unique opportunity to stay in a listed farmhouse dating back to the mid 1500’s. Yet, once you pass through the heavy oak door, you’ll find AA rated four star guest house accommodation that’s rooted firmly in the 21st century.

The Lodge is believed to have had a variety of uses during its long and eventful history. It’s thought to have been Henry VIII hunting lodge during his stays with his second wife Anne Boleyn and was a private house for many years before being beautifully converted to 11 stunning bedrooms, overlooking the beauty of the Gloucestershire countryside and the Welsh coastline.

Located within 15 minutes of the M5 and M4, and 30 minutes from the heart of Bristol M6, Thornbury Lodge is within easy reach of Almondsbury, Avonmouth, Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Chipping Sodbury and Oldbury-On-Severn.

Overnight stay
A lovely lodge in picturesque surroundings.
A little disappointed with the bar area which was a little small with no character. Despite this would probably stay there again. Very friendly & helpful staff.

Additional facilities
The bar and restuarant, whilst not expected to be gourmet was disappointing in that it closed at 21.00 food was good, breakfast fresh cooked not buffet style, limited choices of cereals.

Lovely
A lovely peaceful place to stay. I took my 92 year old Nan and the downstairs room was great for her mobility.

Very nice venue
The room was very large. The bathroom looked very modern. The golf staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was good. Was unclear why the breakfast was slightly different to the golfers. Will definitely stay again.

A bleak experience.
Mould around the shower, no check in after 8pm, no breakfast before 7.30am and a cold shower!

House hunting
Pleasant location and setting, how ever disappointed with no wifi in rooms , even at this accommodation price. Breakfast was no worth the money and very poor, in both quality and quantity.
Would consider staying again , but without breakfast .
