Lovely cosy traditional English pub with spacious rooms
The pub/hotel is in a lovely old fashioned building with views on to a common.
The pub part is cosy yet with plenty of room. We stayed for one night as it was near the Harry Potter experience ( 15 minutes drive) and would definitely recommend it for any one visiting it, it's also about 40 minutes from Whipsnade zoo. The rooms were large and comfortable. My only criticisms would be that for the price paid there should have been more free toiletries and more than two tea bags in the room. If you stay here bear in mind the kitchen closes at 10. As we got back too late to eat here we ate at the Indian restaurant a couple of minutes away which serves food until 11, it was delicious and excellent value so would recommend. Breakfast at the hotel was fresh and promptly served. Would stay again though it is rather expensive.
Amazing for potter fans!
Very close to Harry Potter studios, like 10minute drive away.
Got back from the tour at about 8.30, and already had a table booked in the restaurant for 9pm (I recommend you book as it gets very busy!) good was amazing and service was fantastic, we were super hungry so good coming quickly and hot was well received. Good value too- 4 of us two courses and a bottle of wine for ~£70, and it was very nice. Rooms are a little tired looking but very clean and grounds are gorgeous. If you have kids, bring a frisbee or a football- the green outside the hotel is huge and great to blow off steam, all in view of the picnic tables outside the hotel. Breakfast until 9am only and checkout at 12, so plenty of time to get ready next morning. We missed breakfast but the local town has gorgeous coffee shops that serve breakfast - we chose a cafe next to a sweet shop and it was lovely. All in all a great visit, perfect for what we needed and my only criticism is that the rooms could be a bit more modern.
