not quite as excellent as some have said

Yes the greeting by the owner and her exuberant puppy was fine.

Yes the room (at the top) was characterful and reasonably spacious with very good washing facilities and plenty of hot water. Yes the lounge where breakfast was served is also spacious and well appointed. Yes it's in a fine location at the top of the town. But there are a few things the owners don't do so well. The choice of bedlinen with old fashioned gaudy shiny pillows (probably far too many?) and covers was in questionable taste. The TV on the wall was cheap and curiously tiny (and reception wasn't great - although that may be beyond anyone's control). Breakfast: A good choice of cereal and fresh fruit yes and the Full English was generous. Some of the ingredients were plainly from the cheaper end of the market, which is a pity given the personal touch. And it was obvious no one checks the crockery for cleanliness after it's unloaded from the dishwasher. I noticed 2 things which I couldn't use and that wasn't a case of looking to find fault. There's car parking but unless you're lucky with the spaces available or your vehicle is quite small it can be the devil's own job to manoeuvre into or out of a space with a very nasty wall immediately opposite.
