Best Western Lord Haldon Hotel
Slipped since last time but still okay
Room was comfortable with a very good bed (decent night;s sleep!).
Shame the restaurant closes at 8.45 though - I was only just in time to get a club sandwich and chips instead of a good meal. Room was a good size but would have preferred a bath rather than a shower (don't like showers). Staff were very pleasant and friendly, room service was good. But the chips were oven chips - shame on you!!. Very typical Best Western. I experienced the Lord Haldon when it was in private hands and have to say the Hotel was absolutely excellent then, I do feel there has been a little slip in standards but it still acceptable and I would stay again - which says everything. Breakfast was disapointing though, I would not book that again. Bacon was salty and overcooked. Not sure what they had done with the scrambled eggs but they did not look good nor did they taste great. The sausage was cheap and nasty - try getting local produce, rather than bulk buy??. Sadly the breakfast did let you down after a decent room service meal the night before. Oh and noisy guests who kept slamming doors up till 11 p.m. and holding lengthy conversations in the corridor!
