About the hotel

Sun, sea and sandcastles! The hotel is situated on the main Torquay seafront road, Torbay Road. Torquay train station with direct links to London and the north is just behind the hotel and it is just a 5 minute walk from the train station to the Hotel. With so many attractions right on your doorstep and voted top seaside destination in England in the 2015 Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, we know you'll love to be beside the seaside.

Wander into town and catch a show at the Princess Theatre and when you're ready to relax, just head back to your bedrooms which all have en-suite rooms, TV’s and tea and coffee making facilities. Alternatively, just enjoy a drink from our bar in our very spacious sea facing lounge. Adjoining the pretty towns of Paignton and Brixham in the bay, Torquay is located in the area known as the English Riviera. Torquay is only 18 miles from Exeter and 28 miles from Plymouth; it has a beautiful coastline that attracts wildlife and boasts the prehistoric caves known as the Kents Cavern. The town has a rich history and was a destination much loved by the Victorians, in fact, Torquay was home to famous crime novelist Agatha Christie in her early years and holds an annual International Agatha Christie Festival for devoted fans of her writing. Torre Abbey is steeped in history and only just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. As is the Riviera International Conference Centre, which offers swimming, a Bar Café and WiFi. Paignton Zoo is just 20 minutes away from the hotel and is a great favourite with the family. Get a special pass from the zoo and you also get to go to see the penguins at the Living coasts in Torquay. Babbacombe Village is also just 30 minutes from the Hotel, which is home to the Model Village and gardens. There is limited onsite parking available on a first come, first served basis. There is however offsite parking on Sea Way Lane which is the next road to the hotel. Breakfast is available at an extra cost, which can be requested upon arrival.

Dated, but clean, warm and comfortable

We ( me and my husband) have stayed at this accommodation on several times over the last few months, in a different room every time.

All the rooms we have stayed in have been clean and comfortable, and have everything you would need for an overnight stay. Really good value for money and the breakfast ( an additional £5 per person) is lovely. As the name implies there is a good view over the sea (depending on the room you get). Free wi-fi available in the dining room. Parking onsite is not brilliant, as it is limited and you need to back out onto a busy road, but you can park on the next street f you need to. Very close to the train station - 2 minutes walk. Lift to all floors. Would really recommend this hotel

Wouldn't recommend this hotel

The shower was good.

But it was a corner shower and anyone a bit larger than avarage would not have been able to get through the doors to use it. I didn't see that breakfast is not included in the price as I booked in a hurry....my fault I suppose. I had a small double room with no proper daylight...tho' it didn't really matter as I was only there overnight. The parking area was full, so I had to park on the drive infront of the hotel. Unfortunately, 2 other cars parked behind me afterwards. In the morning, I had to wait half an hour for the other 2 cars to go. This is not a great way to organise the parking. The view from the front, whichis a function room I think, was really good...you overlook the sea (across the road) and can see the whole of Torquay, which is lovely.
