Brill breakfast but
Fantastic breakfast, clean accommodation ideally located but room 8 is not a double room.
This room is tiny, the en suite is so small the basin is in the bedroom. Why have loads of cushions on the bed when the room is so small. They had to be stacked on the top of the wardrobe and on the floor in front of the door!
Despite this being marketed as a hotel it is really a guest house (as admitted by the owner) this meant that information displayed was not in fact available.
There was supposed to be a bar which was never opened on either Friday evening when we arrived or on Saturday night. When I queried this on leaving the owner seemed in total denial and inferred that we had not tried to ring the bell to obtain service, which was witnessed by all our group, unbelievable!
We do not advertise as a hotel in any way. We are called The Royal Bridlington and NOT The Royal Hotel for this very reason and indeed the very first paragraph of text on this agencies website is 'This four star guest accommodation..' Perhaps you did not read and just assumed that we were a four star hotel at guest house prices and came with unrealistic expectations?
Our dispense bar is open from 5pm. Unfortunately as we are only a small establishment it is not viable to staff the bar and that is why there is a bell there to ring for service. The bar tends to be used by groups, but is hardly used by individual guests as they tend to prefer to eat out. There is also a wired bell on the reception desk & at the front door. Obviously we
are busy around the building doing other tasks all the time and it is possible that we did not hear the small hand bell and infact when you drew this to our attention on departure Tim explained that he was in the laundry room and had not heard it. Had you rung the bell on reception or at the front door too, then we would have heard these or perhaps you could have had
a wonder around and found him. We are sorry that your expectations of a four star hotel were of course unfulfilled at our guest house but really this is not our fault.
