Older fashioned hotel conveniently situated in Muir of Ord.
We received a friendly welcome on arrival, and similarly a friendly farewell on departure.
We were provided with a room with an en-suite bathtub as we requested. An additional electric heater is provided in the bedroom, as the central heating goes off overnight, and we did need to use this on a cold February night. Service was fine. The hotel is an older fashioned hotel, and shows its age in parts, and the owners are obviously trying to update and redecorate the building as they are able. Some of the fixtures and fittings are old, and especially the light fitting over the mirror in the bathroom in room 12, and we wondered if it was safe. The hotel was clean. No Wi-Fi is offered which is probably unacceptable in the 21st century. No drinking glasses are provided in the room, only flimsy plastic cups. No complientary bath foam or shampoo are provided, and only liquid soap and a bar of soap were available in the batheroom. No face flannels are provided. There is only one towel loop in the bathroom, and nowhere to hang up damp towels, which isn't very practical. The hot breakfast is very adequate, and just traditional items are offered, and there is no fish offered. Sadly no fresh fruit is offered at breakfast. We arrived too late to have an evening meal, but the menu is of the more traditional bar food style.
Pit stop enroute to Orkney
Very warm and friendly welcome on arrival.
The place could do with a bit of a spruce up and lick of paint otherwise it was OK for what we needed but a little to far out the way - my fault not theirs.
