Quick trip to Bournemouth
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful, the hotel décor beyond reception is a little dated and slightly battered in places but it felt relaxed and comfortable.
My bedroom ( a single) was adequate with a nice comfortable double bed with lovely crisp white sheets on the bed but it was inconvenient having the washbasin in the bedroom rather than in the bathroom (which was tiny with no space for shower stuff etc) . Everything was very clean. The restaurant menu was inviting with some inventive dishes but a bit on the high side price wise for the standard of food on the plate.
In answer to the questions "Would I sat here again" and "would I recommend this hotel to a friend " I need a "maybe" option
The high quality of the breakfast is our main reason for returning to the Royal Exeter.
Fresh fruit and dried fruits and nuts are always available and a freshly cooked full English, which sets us up for the whole day. The bedrooms are adequate but are in need of refurbishment.
