About the hotel
The Sandbanks is the perfect choice, whether you simply want a relaxing break, need to entertain a family, want a quiet business meeting or plan a full-on activity holiday. With rooms for the business traveller to rooms for families, the Sandbanks Hotel caters for all. Our rooms include Tea and Coffee making facilities, Hairdryer, Toiletries, Free Wi-Fi and use of the Leisure Facilities.
For families, the major attraction is perhaps the sandy beach with its Blue Flag for cleanliness, with RNLI lifeguards on duty in the summer season. There’s also the 10m heated indoor swimming pool and the organised entertainment programme that helps to keep children occupied (and gives the adults time to enjoy themselves too). If rest and relaxation is your aim, you may be happy just sitting and wandering along t he beach. For Watersports, our Watersports Academy is on the doorstep. Here you may take courses or just hire the equipment you need. You can choose from a wide range of activities, including windsurfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, power boating, dinghy sailing, diving, kayaking and bike riding (and we have tow-alongs, trailers and mini-bikes for children). If you wish to venture further afield, you can also charter our 44’ sailing catamaran, or one of our ribs. For a memorable event, or celebration, the combination of perfect location, excellent service and outstanding value is hard to beat. Bathroom a bit old and rusty.
Nice hotel, great location but a bit tired and in need of a refurbish. Would expect higher standard for the price. I stay in hotels regularly and have stayed in much nicer ones for this price, although I will be returning as the beach and view are gorgeous
I marked down the Value for money section, I suggest a subsidy, or voucher system on the Bar prices for residents as they currently appeared to be somewhat excessive.
In fairness it would be useful to separate the category so that I could comment on vfm by department - ie the room rate via laterooms.com was exceptional. The food quality was excellent, however having a dead fly on my desert was off-putting - I think that there was something of a plague of small flies occurring at the time, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I would also recommend that, in the room I occupied, the pipe carrying hot water to the left of the window, is clad or insulated in someway, to prevent the room becoming excessively hot (room 305 from memory). There was a superb view from the room, however, looking out, it was noticeable that the roof gutters were full off sand and there was evidence of water ingress and rot to the windowsill.
My overall experience was that it was an excellent hotel that I would recommend to my friends and family, budget permitting. My comments are for the Quality Assurance Team and are intended to be of assistance in what is a superb Hotel, with well trained, courteous and helpful staff, who are clearly trying to establish the Sandbanks Hotel as a centre of excellence in its stunning location!
