Awful Hotel Room
Horrendously tired room.
No hand basin in en-suite (in bedroom instead), toilet roll holder had fallen off wall and was on floor together with 2 spare rolls. Flush didn't work well. No window or ventilation in tiny toilet. Extractor fan fitted but did not work. Poor lighting. Very dated decor. Tiny television without all of the usual freeview channels. No wifi. Stuffy rooms, no air con or air flow, was roasting in January. Uncomfortable bed. Very scary old pull shutter door elevator - probably should just be a service lift - petrified was going to get stuck in that sardine can. And breakfast following morning consisted of sausages that were raw in the middle and other dangerously uncooked items. Brought to hotel's attention but was now running late and no time for food to be recooked.
It was Ok!
When I arrived I was informed that I had to pay for my room as the card payment I thought I'd made online had not been accepted.
It was a tad inconvenient as I had not budgeted to pay for the room as I thought it was already paid for. A pre warning before I arrived would have been helpful, but it wasn't a major issue.
The room was ok and fit for purpose, the yellow pages used as a doorstop on the internal door was a little hazardous and seemed unnecessary when doorstops are so cheap. Again, no major issues.
I was awoken quite early by somebody entering my room, I assume it was staff, I cant be sure. Not great. Especially as I'd had a late night. I couldnt relax enough to fall back asleep afterwards.
Overall, an acceptable experience, no less than I expected and for central London, very reasonably priced.
