Noisy and soulless, not worth the money
We booked last minute for a one night stay.
Large room, you could see the see from it, close to the centre and the sea, relatively clean and nice new bathroom although the shower head was leaking. Staff were trying to be nice but completely lacked training in customer care. Room is completely devoid of decoration, which makes it feel like you're in a psychiatric ward. One pillow per person, box standard cheap mattress and there was a constant noise of a generator or something similar that went on all night. It went off at around 7am when we finally managed to get sleep. The worst night I have ever had, mainly due to the constant noise. Given the lack of effort to make the place look like a hotel, I felt they are charging way too much. I have stayed in much nicer hostels and backpackers for a fraction of the price.
Surface clean, Noisy room
Upon first arrival the staff seemed friendly, check on was a painless procedure taking less than 5 minutes.
They informed me that the lift was broke but luckily (or so I thought) I was on the first floor.
Entering the room I was impressed by the size, for a single room it was pretty big. It looked modern and clean and even had kitchen facilities hidden away in a cupboard (microwave, fridge, sink and storage). The bed was also very clean (very firm mattress though). That's about where the good times ended. The room was surface clean - the toilet seat was covered in various marks like it hadn't been cleaned. The shower floor was dirty. All the metal tap fixtures had some sort of buildup on them. The WORST part of the stay was the noise. Because all of the floors are wooden I could hear every single guest walking past my room to get to their own. Their voices were so clear they may as well have been in the bed with me. It felt like someone was going to burst through the door, as if I was at a sleepover in someone's home. I could also hear upstairs walking around. Then, it turned out my window was broken (right side window, right latch) so it didn't close properly. I could hear every single sound from outside, whistling, footsteps, children running around screaming at 11pm, cars, music from
cars etc etc in short it took ages to fall asleep at night and then I was woken up early by all the noise starting again. Oh and the curtains were basically useless, needent have been provided due to the amount of light let into the room even when they were closed. Definitely wouldn't stay there again. In fairness, I didn't complain to staff - after reading a couple of complaints here (that I sadly ignored), I noted that due to all staff being forgein the complaints procedure was very frustrating. To be honest I was too tired to try and explain. So, maybe they would have come up with a soloution... But unless they planned to carpet the whole place I doubt the hallway noises and sounds from other rooms would have been stopped.
Side note: the main demographic of guests seemed to be foreign student types. Teenagers. Some took the do not disturb sign off of my door. So if you are older I would stay elsewhere.
