This is a fantastic lucky find.
The building is a period country house full of character, hidden away up a long country lane but within easy access to the motorway, local village and Bridgend. Access to major towns is a doddle. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with regular interaction to ensure everything was okay. My room was exceptionally large and comfortable with amazing views, large double bed, bath and shower and separate 'lounge'. Food is always a contentious issue but I ate at restaurant and thought the evening meal was excellent as was breakfast, in the morning. Did not use golf course or gym facilities but they were available for those who had time. Gripes: there has to be something - some of room furniture looked a bit tired and one of the tea cups had 'tea ring' in it so needed a quick clean before use. As with many older buildings some refreshment of decor could always be possible but this did not detract from positives of the room or building, which by its very nature is 'old'. I would have no reservation in recommending this hotel or staying again. Excellent value, location, staff and food.
Lovely Coed y Mwstwr.
