Very comfortable although dated.
The bed was very big and very comfortable.
It was the executive double so was a bit disappointed that there was only 1 double plug in the whole room to use and that was on the dressing table, also the TV was very small for such a large room. The room is dated but very clean and comfortable.
Long distance car park, watch out for the key scam, and dont change rooms!!
This hotel does not have a car park, instead it has photocopied maps to a public car park which approximately a quarter of a mile away, and even with my long legs is a 10 minute walk, not great if you are carrying heavy bags.
Myself and a colleague checked in, and were told that a key return policy is in operation, and that before leaving the hotel for any reason deposit the key in the slot on reception. I met my colleague in reception an hour later and we both left our keys as instructed. On our return later that evening, the night porter could not find my key, he questioned if I had actually left it and eventually agreed to let me in my room. Th following morning I checked out of the hotel, and whilst the chap on reception questioned the missing key, he supplied my VAT receipt, and I left. Approximately half an hour later I recieved a call telling me thast the hotel was going to charge me an additional £30 to replace the lost key. I remonstrated with the chap, and he eventually put the manager on, who after much debate agreed to review the CCTV, and check if I had actually deposited the key. He called me back apologetic a hour later and said that he had checked the CCTV, and I could clearly be seen depositing the key, I would suggest a slightly less forceful person would be £30 worse off, is this a regular occurrence ??. Regarding the rooms, my original room on the 5th floor was perfectly acceptable, but contained two single beds, I asked if I could get a room with a double bed, and was given room 313, which I can say without fear of contradiction is amongst the worst hotel rooms I have ever had the misfortune to stay in, the blind in the room was closed as the widow was covered in something disgusting, and approximately 10 feet from a buliding site opposite. The room was horrifically hot, and whilst very bascially clean ,it was very very tired. the only reason I didnt complain was I was also very very tired and only staying for one night. There are numerous other hotels within 2 minuyes of this one, vote with your feet.
