The Scottish Highlands has become more and more accessible over the years with regular international flights available from Inverness airport. Inverness is merely an hour drivefrom where guests can enjoy panoramic view as the travel north. Coming Summer 2016: The Dornoch Distillery will be creating an 'old style' whisky and producing a hand crafted organic gin from scratch on the grounds of the Dornoch Castle Hotel. Home away from Home

Extremely friendly and helpful staff with a very cosy feel to both the room and the bar area.

Barman particularly helpful in explaining and discussing various whiskies, ensuring my selection was exactly what I wanted.

Slightly eccentric but rather enjoyable

A hotel in a mediaeval castle in Dornoch village centre.

Room a bit faded with splendidly random furniture, but well-equipped with good quality bedding and all scrupulously clean. Attentive service. Public areas characterful but a little haphazard in decoration, furnishings and design. Breakfast simple but ok. It's one of those hotels which you enter with a sinking feeling. You don't expect it to work, but it does, in a rather eccentric and idiosyncratic way. Recommended for a short but interesting stay.
