Extremely friendly and helpful staff with a very cosy feel to both the room and the bar area.
Barman particularly helpful in explaining and discussing various whiskies, ensuring my selection was exactly what I wanted.
Slightly eccentric but rather enjoyable
A hotel in a mediaeval castle in Dornoch village centre.
Room a bit faded with splendidly random furniture, but well-equipped with good quality bedding and all scrupulously clean. Attentive service. Public areas characterful but a little haphazard in decoration, furnishings and design. Breakfast simple but ok. It's one of those hotels which you enter with a sinking feeling. You don't expect it to work, but it does, in a rather eccentric and idiosyncratic way. Recommended for a short but interesting stay.
