Very nice stay.
Good honest hotel.
All i witnessed were staff working very hard to meet the needs of those using the hotel. Creaking stairs...yes.....doors slamming shut...yes..... A huge amount of time money and effort has gone into refurbishment of this hotel.....creaking stairs....part of the charm......doors slamming shut.......nowt to do with the hotel...that is plain and simple up to guests who fail to consider those around them when leaving or entering rooms......just plain bad manners.....Its very easy to close the doors quietly..... Restaurant was ok, very efficient staff, no long wait for food, maybe a slightly bigger choice would have been nice, but that is me just being over fussy....what was on offer was of a good quality. You want 5 star...go pay the prices......this was excellent value and i will return without any hesitation.
Convenient, comfortable, well-used accommodation
Convenient to NEC, quick check in (though not very friendly), good sized room with mock balcony to garden and fields beyond.
The room was clean but had a strange smell which I put down to the plug-in air freshener. Some clothes belonging to someone else had been left behind in 3 of the drawers. Once over all of that, it was comfortable and quiet. The food in the restaurant was good standard pub grub and reasonably priced and friendly service. The hotel had a well used feel - carpets a bit dirty in corridors - obviously a popular place for people to come to eat. Would stay again if going to NEC, but not my first choice for a holiday.
