About the hotel

The New Huddersfield Hotel is situated in the Centre of the old Worsted Town of Huddersfield and has recently undergone a full refurbishment. It is a 10 minute walk from the John Smiths Stadium, Train station and Theatre. It is a 5 minute walk away from the University.

All rooms include an en-suite bathroom and have a flat screen TV with free wifi and Coffee and tea making facilities. They have all been refurbished within the last 12 months.

The New Huddersfield Hotel

Great hotel let down by staff

I would stay here again, its well located, clean, and serves purpose, however a lack of good quality staff lets this place down, we arrived before check in, and left our bags behind reception, we had a room with 2 beds and a sofa bed, and we asked to make sure the sofa was made up as a bed.

we left for football and returned around 5pm, the bed was not made up, and upon informing reception we were told "housekeeping have gone" I said if they could leave sheets etc I would do it myself, and they promised that sheets, pillows etc would be in the room, we went out for the evening, and when we returned to the room there were no sheets, this was in the small hours so it was not an option to deal with at this time. I slept on the sofa, under a pile of my clothes and friends coats, I learned the room was very cold at this point. In the morning I informed reception of this when we checked out and her response was "oh" ... nothing more, then while I stood reading the breakfast menu for the attached club she smirked a bit. we walked to the club, to find it wasn't open until 12, I felt that it would have been kind to inform us that picking our breakfast at 10 am on this menu was a waste of time.

on the whole, a nice place, with a great pub attached, and a cue club which serves food. but not in the morning.

I am very sorry you were disappointed with our staff. I investigated closely the reason why you were so let down by receptionist and we have come to conclusion that it was a one big misunderstanding. Receptionist that promised you the bedding in fact left it at the reception desk as she would not enter your room without clear consent because we had some displeased guest which room were enter during their stay couple of months back and now we very strongly press the policy to do not enter

the room under any circumstances especially when guest are absent. She had no recollection of next morning conversation and I can only apologise for your experience as I do not have any explanation. Once again I am very sorry for your bad experience and I wish you would notify night porter about missing bedding and heating problem as this matter could be resolved at any time. Thank you for your feedback.
