About the hotel

Berry Lane Cottage is nestled in its own grounds of 6 acres of paddocks and woodland just outside the little village of Nanstallon. It is 5 minutes from the Camel Trail, an 18 mile off road cycle path between Wenfordbridge and Padstow and 12 miles from the beaches of north and south Cornwall. We are happy for you to bring your well behaved dog, but not in bedrooms, and you are more than welcome to bring your hens and other small pets.

We have two lovely bedrooms with their own private bathrooms adjoining for you to rest and relax in. One room contains a king size double and a single so can be a twin or even a family room. The other double room has a bathroom with a bath for those wanting to relax in bubbles! High speed WiFi is available so watching TV on your iPad etc is possible too. Proper quality coffee, real milk and home made cake and/or biscuits await you in your room. Proper cotton bed linen and hot water bottles will keep you snug and there are plenty of books and magazines to read. We also have two Shepherds Huts one a single and one a double and both off grid (this means no mains electric or TV etc). They have comfy beds, a wood stove and a hot flask for making tea and coffee. A breakfast basket will be bought to your hut or you can have breakfast in the kitchen. A shared bathroom for both huts is a short walk away with hot shower and flush loo, or a compost toilet and gas powered hot shower is available for those who want the camping experience. We have extensive grounds and gardens for you to wander in and the geese, ducks and chickens will love to make your acquaintance!

Peace and Quiet

I wanted something a bit different for a single traveller and the shepherd's hut really seemed to fit the bill.

I had the smaller hut as I was alone and it was so cosy and comfortable I didn't want to leave. The hut has a woodburning stove in case it does turn cold but the thoughtful inclusion of a soft, fluffy dressing gown really made a difference. A lovely slice of cake and fresh milk in a cold bag awaits your return each day, along with a thermos of hot water. Even my solar battery was put out in the sunshine when I forgot. The very clean compostable toilet and outdoor gas shower were very impressive - there is a separate standard toilet and shower (very clean) a short walk through the garden. The teepee had just been installed as I arrived. Breakfast is excellent and very filling and it was lovely to sit and chat with the family in the morning. Val is an excellent host and very knowledgeable about the local area and very generous as she even invited me to join them on a family evening outing to Port Isaac. There are a lot of things to do in the area and so many great Cornish attractions are within short driving distance. I love Cornwall and will definitely go back again to continue my exploration of this beautiful part of the country.
