About the hotel
To a little bit of luxury in the beautiful Somerset village of Wedmore. Our Grade II Listed home was transformed by us and our philosophy is simple: You are staying with us in our home, so please just ask us for anything you need. The luxury is in the choice of food, the wine, the bed linen, the art on the walls and the people looking after you.
Our look is a mix of old and new furniture and art; combining colours and beautiful fabrics with original vintage features and existing distressed walls. We serve Real Ales from the cask, Butcombe Bitter & Sharpe’s Doom Bar as well as Orchard Pig & Thatcher’s Ciders, with Wilkins cider available seasonally. We also serve a fine selection of Continental lagers. Our food ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, and Seasonal produce is put to full use by by our award-winning head chef Richard Sampson and his team, allowing us to create great tasting food whilst maintaining variety. We offer food lunchtime & dinnertime from 12-3pm and 7pm - 9pm Monday to Saturday and extended Sunday lunch from 12 midday till 8. 30pm.

The George Inn
I've stayed at 'The George Inn' a few times now.
The room is clean and lovely with comfortable beds. Compliments must go to the chef though as I've had superb meal after superb meal. Looking forward to my next stay.
A quirky friendly Inn
There were a few problems when we got there, the plumbing in old coaching inns like this can be temperamental and we had to move rooms because of it.
The rooms however are absolutely individual in decoration, size and character and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The staff are, without doubt, the friendliest we have come across, and special mentions go to Richard (Head Chef) Laura (Manager supreme!) Ellie, Mat, Tim and Adrian - bar staff extraordinaire. The owner Gordon is a nice chap who was tackling the plumbing issue when we left on Monday morning ; nice to see an owner who doesn't mind rolling up his sleeves and getting down to the nitty gritty. We will go back, we plan on taking our daughter and a friend next year - we need two rooms Gordon!
