Established in 1110, and beautifully restored, this inn makes the perfect place to stop. Lovely old inn
The Malt Shovel Inn oozes character.
A really friendly welcome from the bartender. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with some fascinating antique furniture. Lovely food. Lovely people.
An absolute bargain.
The Malt Shovel was built in 1110 and is in the centre of Ruarden.
We were greeted by a friendly young barman who showed us to our room. It was spacious and clean with a spotless duvet and pillowcases. Even though the restaurant was due to close he said they would still cook us a meal. It was delicious and the young waitress was warm and friendly. The customers present all said hello as we went tithe bar. Next morning we enjoyed a continental breakfast served by the pub manager and his wife. We would definitely stay there again. I can't fault it.
