Beautiful but more like tiny self catering than B&B
We stayed in the Garden Room.
It is beautiful. The whole place is in a stunning location. I can't decide if I loved it enough to return. The downside: Breakfast is Continental, and located in a table top fridge on a small chest of drawers. The breakfast consisted of - one pint of milk, individual cereals, two small bottles of orange juice and two pain au chocolate. This was the total breakfast supplied for two people for a two night stay. The milk only lasted for one breakfast as we were using it for tea and coffee too. The orange juice and pain au chocolate was split in half daily. Crockery was supplied for breakfast, as was washing up liquid and a tea towel. The only sink was a tiny one in the bathroom. Barely big enough for the cereal bowls. The closed toilet lid is the closest thing you'll get to having a draining board. Breakfast was eaten on the bed in bad weather, outside in good weather. My other niggle is we arrived unable to access the room. There is a key safe so we phoned the owners, who seemed a little irritated at being contacted at 8 o'clock Friday evening. We were told we had been sent an email with details. We were given the code over the phone. When I got home I did find the email in my trash. The only heading on the email was 'garden room'. Having previously been looking to buy a summer house I saw the heading and thought it was from a shed company and delete it without reading it. This deleted email had important info and how to pay details. Which brings me on to payment. I provided credit card details at time of booking. Two days before arrival I had an email (entitled South Stack Retreats, so I read it) saying the whole payment has been taken from my card. Strange as they have a late cancellation policy which doesn't take the whole pay. So if you don't want to pay with your card provided, look out for an email with the room name not South Stack Retreats. Having said all this, the room is beautiful, as are the surroundings and for £60 a night it is good value. I just wish it would advertise as self catering with a bit of complimentary breakfast thrown in. And then maybe provide a bowl to wash up in outside on the patio.
South Stack Coastal Retreats
We booked a basic room as a one night stop before catching the ferry to Ireland.
Being a keen bird watcher, it was only a short walk from the RSPB South Stack Reserve which made an excellent evening walk. The location and views at and around this property were stunning. We were delighted with the accommodation, location and value for money.
