About the hotel

Close to London’s South Bank Arts Centre and the West End, Stamford Street Apartments is a modern residence behind a period facade, five minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station offering ensuite single rooms for budget travellers. All rooms include breakfast, have ensuite shower rooms and are arranged around shared kitchens offering self catering facilities for up to 8 guests. Kitchens are equipped with microwaves, toasters, kettles and ovens but crockery, pans and cutlery are not provided.

Stamford Street Apartments is a student hall of residence for most of the year and let out to the general public for the summer months offering basic but great value accommodation in a very central London location with a wide array of restaurants and bars in the close vicinity. *****Please be aware that soft refurbishment works will be taking place within the reception area and few rooms at Stamford Street Apartments over the summer. Only a small block of rooms that are not in use will be receiving the work at one time and this will all be carried out during standard working hours. As such, we are not anticipating that these refurbishments will impact on the quality of your stay, however they may influence your first impressions of the accommodation when you enter the reception area. If you have any queries regarding your booking or the refurbishment work that will be taking place then please do not hesitate to contact us at stopover@kcl. ac. uk. We look forward to welcoming you to Kings College London very soon.

Like being a student again

Basically this is student accommodation being used out of term time.

It's in an enclosed modern block with blocks of eight single en-suite rooms with a shared communal kitchen. The rooms are fairly small and have a shower and wash basin inside a cabin inside the room. There's a desk and a bed and a chair in the room. The communal kitchen has a kettle and a supply of tea, coffee, uht milk sachets and paper cups so you can make yourself a hot drink. It also has a television. There's a microwave cooker, a full cooker, fridge, freezer and sink in the kitchen as well, so it's easy to cook your own meals if you want to. There's no crockery or cooking utensils or cleaning stuff though, so unless you're just doing a microwaved ready meal or a pizza then you'd better have remembered to bring your own crockery and cutlery with you. I did make use of the kitchen on the three nights I was there - going to the local Sainsburys and Tesco to get some ready meals and fruit. It was really cheap for a central London venue and surprisingly quiet despite being close to the busy Stamford St. Only minor problems I had were only two coat-hangers in the wardrobe, only got one set of towels that weren't replaced, and no cleaning of the room over the three days I was there. I didn't enquire about these issues though so don't know if they'd just forgotten or if it's just what they do. Not a major problem though. I survived!
