About the hotel
West Lodge, a private house, nestled between the beautiful rural and historical villages of Wheathampstead and Kimpton at Porters End, has lovely views over open countryside and yet, is conveniently close to Luton Airport. It is an unexpected treat to find somewhere so tranquil, at the end of country lanes, behind a sweep of gravel drive. The imposing red-brick edifice is new, well-designed and and sits in about two acres of gardens; fields and woodland are visible beyond the lawns.
Inside, there is an abundance of windows and light, and a smart and luxurious decor. Rooms range from a luxurious suite, a spacious double to a more functional single; colourful bathrooms gleam. West Lodge is only three miles from the garden town of Harpenden, which offers an excellent transport link to central London, 20 minutes by train. it is six miles from Welwyn Garden City from where Cambridge can be reached in 40 minutes. Being only 15 minutes away from Luton Airport makes this a perfect place to relax before setting of on your flight. Cars can be parked for only £6 a day, and pick up from Luton Airport can be provided by prior arrangement. Nearby places of interest include Wheathampstead, Ayot St. Lawrence, St. Albans (Roman Verulamium), Luton Hoo, Woburn Abbey and safari park. Please Note we cannot accommodate Lorry's, Drilling Rigs and tractors as we have a small car parking area. A transit van is acceptable.

Great place to stay and more offered than what you would get at similar priced locations in the area
Although a bit of a trek along the narrow country roads this place Ian little gem, best described as a home from home.
Very quiet and great hosts ,I normally have to wear ear plugs in the usual hotels to ensure that I don't get disturbed by others opening doors etc, got ready for bed although they single beds they were very comfortable. (We sleep in a heated water bed normally).
Woke up fresh and relaxed then sat down for my freshly cooked breakfast and watched the wildlife through the pato doors. Great place if you value piece and tranquility!

Dear Mr Ryan J,
Your remarks on your review of our B&B facilities are totally untrue especially as we made you so welcome.
a) Do not stay at this house, owner said it is not a hotel or a B&B it is a private house.
I said we are not a hotel but a private house with B&B facilities.
b) Do not take credit cards.
yes, I said we are unable to take credit cards as we do not have these facilities.
c) Do not stay at this house.
What a statement to make after we made you so welcome in our house.
