About the hotel
The Royal Hotel has recently undergone a huge refurbishment and has just reopened in April 2013 – and feedback has been incredible! See the photos showing the gorgeous bar area, and the beautifully refurbished bedrooms and new bathrooms in place. Breakfast is served in the restaurant between 7am and 9am on weekdays and between 8am and 10am at weekends and on Bank Holidays. All of our rooms are NON-Smoking along with public areas. Room booked for support worker visiting a family in the area.
I sat in the hotel and it's really poor quality eg my room has torn curtains, the windows didn't close, filth in the toilet. It's like a working men's pub in the restaurant and it's dirty throughout. The main problems have been no heating in the room, the manager would not get a plumber out so a staff member went to their house and gave me their heater. No internet in my room and TV would only work if I stood on a chair and manually changed channels.
I think we need to have a list of hotels that we never visit again and this is one of them.
After complaining we were not charged but felt we should make LateRooms aware of these problems for future reference.

We were really impressed by the friendly staff and the fantastic chef.
