Stunning location, friendly hotel, great value for money

I stayed here for a night on my own, planning a bike ride in the area.

I had a single room, which was perfectly comfy, clean, decent sized single bed with en suite shower room + tea and coffee making equipment. The view across the rooftop was quirky, but the hills along the road were still tantalising visible. The food I had in the bar was fine if a bit dull selection wise, although the real ale wasn't very well looked after - but you can't have everything. I felt very welcome but not intrusively so, being there on my own. Great breakfast, piping hot, everything freshly cooked and tasty. The hotel is in a stunning part of Wales with the √Član Valley reservoirs just up the road, and, should you get a clear night, a real chance to experience the new dark skies status the area has just been given. I'll definitely stay again.

Peace and Quiet

This is a traditional family run hotel which means it is not the same as all the identical chain hotels you find in every town and city around the world.

It has real character and its' own style, both of which are a refreshing change. The staff were very helpful throughout my brief stay. The room was large, well appointed and very clean. The en-suite was well appointed and had a good shower. The hotel offers a range of dining options for formal restaurant style to more informal bar meals. The peaceful and picturesque location were a great retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. That said, free wifi was available if you wanted it. Just across the road from the hotel is a cycle path linking the Elan Valley with Rhayader, providing a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists and runners to explore the area. With the path built mainly on an old railway line, the gradients I came across were generally fairly easy too. This is a good hotel and one which I will gladly return to again.
