The building has many enchanting secrets such as the former Bear Pit with secret passageways leading to the village church and Hodnet Hall.
Hodnet derives from the ancient Welsh phrase ‘hawdd nant’ meaning ‘pleasant valley’ and the surrounding countryside reflects this magnificently. The Bear provides an ideal homely base to explore these magical settings with Hodnet Gardens located only accross the road, Hawkstone Hall and its Follies a 5 minute drive away.
For the more active there are several renowned golf courses nearby, as well as The Midlands Shooting grounds.
