Half Moon Jackfield
As I always do, I explained to a member of staff that I was allergic to UHT milk , so, requested fresh milk to take up to our room, he gave me a jug of milk.
I was ill for most of that night and most of the next day.
The next evening I asked a different member of staff for the fresh milk, she said, we don’t have fresh milk here, we use UHT for everything. I said, now I know why I have been so ill. She did go to a shop and got me some fresh this time.
The second night, Sunday 22nd March, we went to bed in a warm room but woke up to a near freezing bedroom and bathroom. It turned out that, as soon as we had gone, they were closing down for two days. When we went to settle up, there was just one member of staff on duty, she had only been working there for a week, but did her very best to sort things out, she rang both the manageress and the owner several times but got no answer. We paid our bill in full and left a note for the management. We arrived home just over a week later. There had been no response to our note, so I phoned the owner, he said, ”give me a few days and I promise I will come back to you”. He did not, so two weeks later, I phoned again, he said, “phone the manageress next Wednesday evening” (the 22nd April). I phoned as requested, she said, “I will come back to you”, she did not, so, I phoned her again a week later, she said, “I have spoken to the owners and they won’t do anything about it now as it was six weeks ago”.
Please Note. We have spent at least 150 nights in B&Bs over the last 12 years and have never had a problem like this before.
Our stay at The HalfMoon was thoroughly enjoyable.
Our room was beautifully presented - a little cold on our arrival but with an extra heater (and some padding around a drafty window - which I'm sure will be sorted out soon) it soon warmed up. The bathroom was large and although I had only expected a shower there was a shower/bathtub so that was a bonus. THe views of the river from the room were lovely.
Only slight negatives - it was rather cold in the bar/restaurant and I wanted a better sausage with my breakfast!.
