Fabulous stay at The Butchers Arms. Will definitely stay again!

We had travelled 4.5 hours to get to the apartments arriving later than expected at just after 11.30pm.

We collected our keys from the bar and we're met with such a warm welcome and good cheer from others in the bar. People said they has been rooting for us and hoped we enjoyed our stay. We were shown to our apartment and just could not believe how brilliant it was for the money. It was huge. Kingside bedroom, seperate bathroom, large living /dining room and a kitchen. It was like home from home even had a washing machine. The accommodation was spotless, bright and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable - only downside was that the pillows were quite hard for our liking but by the second night we were used to it. If you were that bothered you could bring your own I suppose. Back to the kitchen, as it's self catering accommodation you are provided with a fridge (spotless again), water filter, kettle, toaster, oven hob, crockery, cutlery etc it's really everything you could ask for. Remember your essentials though e.g teabags and milk!. Don't be put off by the photograph of the road, we were facing this and honestly couldn't hear it. The bedroom was at the back so we had a lovely view instead. Ample parking is available on site and access to the high street was easy. 5 minutes down the hill there are shops, cafés etc

All in all I couldn't fault the place. A real home from home experience. Clean, welcoming and we'll located. We're back again next month so that speaks for itself. Highly recommended a lovely little place.

Great Value, lots of Rustic potential but bland and quite 'local' feel

Can't beat the price, and the place has everything you'd need except for Wifi (come on -in this day and age).

We weren't bothered by staff nor other guests so had a lovely peaceful time. The owners were accessible and amenable. We had the top far flat and very old stone steps lead to it -we thought that very quaint.

A shame the interior didn't match the rustic charm of the exterior though.

Comfy bed and sofa. As the Hotel Inspector always says -get rid of the clutter and tat - I agree, bare spaces and walls look better than tasteless things. We had the bedroom with a view of a wall but the front window had a view (and we werent there for a view so it mattered not). Reasonable shower (not too short as one reviewer has said), plenty of cutlery -if clearly old and second hand and kitchen bits inc a microwave. The washing machine would be a good idea if it also dried!. Beware approaching it as you'd almost miss it and the sudden turn needed for the car park. Kitchen could do with a cafetiere as there were espresso cups but no means to make it. The attached pub was very 'local' though the prices surprisingly high. Very dog friendly (could do with some Frebrese though).
