About the hotel
We have a reputation for making everyone feel welcome, with our passion for good food, good service, fabulous wine and our local real ales. On our five hand pulls we feature local ales from the Milton Brewery, Woodfordes and Adnam's and stock wines from the Carters vineyard at Boxted, Colchester. We also stock a large variety of cider.
Informal and relaxed dining is our rule. Our restaurant has a modern, contemporary feel with stunning views over the River and Marina. Our food is locally sourced and seasonal with fresh fish everyday direct from the Norfolk coast. We are well renowned for our Sunday roasts and our fresh homemade desserts that take your eye on your way through to the restaurant. We are a huge fan of clean, well behaved dogs, so your beloved friend is more than welcome to join you in the bar. The three en-suite rooms at the ‘otter’ are individually designed and equipped with all the little extras to make your stay comfortable. All rooms have: • A digital flat screen TV/DVD • Phone docking station • Luxury complimentary toiletries • Tea & coffee making facilities • Hairdryers • Egyptian cotton sheets • Free Wifi • Full English breakfast included The Lazy Otter is the ideal base to strike out to Ely and visit Oliver Cromwell’s house, tour the stunning Cathedral, take a stroll along the river or even hire a boat. Cambridge is also only 11 miles away and is home to the colleges and punting along the famous ‘Backs’, the Fitzwilliam museum, plus shopping in the Grand Arcade with all its designer shops. Or if you fancy a flutter, Newmarket is only 20 mins away so visit the famous July racecourse for a day of exhilarating horse racing

I really enjoyed my stay although on business, I will definitely return next time I am working in the area.
Good food, good real ales, small but comfortable and well equipped room. Superb breakfast.
Overall a great place to stay. I look forward to returning again soon.
As usual the Lazy Otter delivers - Superb
It's always a pleasure to stay here but it had been some months since my last visit.
As usual the staff which friendly and welcoming, rooms immaculate and bed super comfortable. The food is wonderful, the winter menu was so good I had a really tough time choosing. I want to recommend every-one stays here but also I want them to always have a room when I need one so the decision to place a review is always tough however a place so good deserves success and I should share the joy!
